The future of surveillance

What do you think is the future of surveillance? Is it a problem for you or is it a solution to other problems? Does it matter if it is the monopoly of the state or if it is, as is increasingly the case, a widespread practice of everyone?

I am thinking about this on the back of the wider spread use of dash cams, dash cam footage, door bell cameras, domestic CCTV and even people using recording tech on their phones, other devices and the prospect one day of people wearing cameras that they use to live stream or simply record their day to day lives.

Its common enough now that I hear people talk about their "everyday carry", ie whatever they have on the day to day with them, either in pockets or brief case or backpack, what if this included as standard something which recorded them or others?
