I'm a 5 foot 9 inches tall man with a BMI of exactly 40, as I weigh 270 pounds. I've tried dieting on my own, I've tried programs like Nutrisystem and Weight Watchers, and I've even tried phentermine. I just can't seem to keep weight off, and if I ever get below 270 a while, I'll always gain it back within a few months of losing it. It's frustrating. I'm considering gastric bypass as I have acid reflux, and gastric bypass is one of the few bariatric procedures that could make my reflux better instead of worse.

Has anybody here ever had or known anybody who has ever had gastric bypass? If so, did it work well for them?
