Actually once you get beyond the level of clever clogs IQ doesn't reap benefits in every day life. Super bright people think they ought to be listend too more and that is simply not true. People need to ahve a balance of social skills and emotional intellengece.
Women of course are totally screwed if they are bright

Sigh sadly I agree, there's a bit of prejudice on the whole 'wth why aren't yeu more girly?' >.>
Oh well.
In any case, yeu're also right on the above. Being 'too smart' in one isolated way is a problem... there's many many many forms of intelligence, musical inclination, the ability to grasp 3 dimensional thinking, linguistics, mathematics, social skills, each of these things and many others make up the mind as a whole. Become too heavily weighted on one (the prom queen or an idiot-savant) and yeu sacrifice so much of the others that it's worthless.
Personally, I've tried to maintain only a slightly unhealthy balance, with far more dedication towards comprehension style intelligence, and viewing things as a whole such a the whole wise beyond yeur years type dealie, while maintaining hopefully a descent enough social and emotional balance, have to sacrifice somewhere but be careful not to sacrifice too far.
One thing that's always bugged me is how people are like zomg we have to cure autism! Why? It's not really BROKEN, it's just another form of comprehension and thinking, more or less... I have actually known someone who was autistic, and they basically were just very heavily leaning into a certain mode of thought process, with severe compensations paid for it. If yeu want to be ridiculously good at one thing, yeu can't be the jack of all trades TOO on top of it. People have no issues at all with this in the physical sense, but as soon as yeu become a little difficult to deal with socially, pft yeu're useless, no matter how smart yeu are in any other way. If anything, we should be focusing research on ways to encourage some of the autistic behaviours (typically higher intelligence) and try to reduce the negative aspects (difficulties grasping emotions, social restrictions, etc). It's not that their minds are broken, they're just hyper-specialized more or less.
Which does show a perfect example of "too much of a good thing", as tinkerbell was mentioning.
One last thing I'd like to mention too... stop relying on the IQ tests, especially online ones, they can bounce around wildly. Yeu can get 105 on one test and 250 on the next. Obviously there's no standard being set here, and if yeu seriously believe that in a random sampling of the world on this forum can have a dozen people who test higher than anyone else in the world has ever achieved and pass einstein and hawkings, then perhaps yeu aren't even remotely as bright as yeu may've thought, because yeu obviously lack the common sense to apply any raw intelligence yeu may have. Being book smart is one thing, having any clue as to how to apply it is quite another, and it's best to have a mix of both. For a referance point, the bellcurve of IQ normally drops off sharply at about 130, if yeu're above 130, yeu're in the top 10% easily. Einstein was estimated to be about 160. There's probably less than a dozen people in the world who have officially tested over 200. If yeur test gives yeu a 250+ rating, don't brag, it'll just make people think poorly of yeu for either A: having no clue whot yeu're talking about, or B: being so pretensious as to actually believe it. Note, I'm only referring to those who seriously believe their iq is WELL OVER 200, if yeu REALLY believe that to be 100% accurate, it's obviously nowheres near the truth if yeu can believe such a silly thing.
Those that just referance it as a joke though, yeu have to admit it is kind of funny how wildly the values can swing, and how ridiculous the testing and scoring methods are.
Had to bold the last bit so people didn't think I really meant 'everyone' who was quoting such believed that. That's just silly to assume such.
