Good list. Except hendrix. I guess he was 4w5 infp. Or maybe it was the drugs...

It's very encouraging to think I share the same 4w5 as these musicians.

As for my own contribution to the thread, I believe Roger Waters could also be either a 4w5, or possibly a 5w4. I also believe he's an INTx.

i'm not sure i'm going with all of these 100%, but this is an awesome start. 4w3 entj siouxie sioux? miles davis xxxx 4w3? infp? isfp? entj? infj? (i've heard it all, i lean towards isfp). not sure about paul simon or michael stipe. paul simon seems 9 to me, from pure stereotypes and what his music sounds like.

karen o, lauryn hill, morrissey, bryan ferry, and pete townsend all make instant sense to me.

I'm pretty sure that George Harrison was an INFP. I'd agree with the enneagram though.

i don't see Fi dom at all. my second and third guesses are isfj. the intps like to claim him, but generally they seem to be the worst at typing (their goddamned persuasive lies/stories!).

i don't really like him, as far as the beatles go, i prefer george martin.

    you agree with 9w1?

I would like to claim Stipe as a 4. He wrote a song for his fellow 4, Kurt Cobain, titled "Let Me In" from the REM album monster, after Kurt committed suicide. He had an odd sort of connection somehow with Cobain, and I suspect this is because they were similar kinds of people somehow. Stipe visually seems like a 4w3. He is fairly eccentric, in the sense that he is not only a bit eccentric visually onstage in the traditional eccentric rock star sense, but he is eccentric compared to other rock stars of his generation. I'm not totally convinced of this typing, but these things make me suspect he could be 4w3.

Check out this month's Rolling Stone for some interesting REM info. (I think it was RS, if not it was Sound on Sound as they have an article on them also.) In the article, Michael Stipe talked about making the transition from writing lyrics by hand to writing lyrics on a computer. He said that sometimes the lyrics would be great, but his handwriting was poor, so those lyrics did not get used. Other times, the lyrics would be not so good, but his handwriting would look wonderful, so he would use those lyrics. I think that Stipe therefore has to be a type that is focused on aesthetics, since he could put form over substance like that. Also, he admits that some of the REM lyrics are basically nonsense, which lends credence to the handwriting anecdote! Very interesting...

p.s. - REM is the most underrated band ever.
