Aight. So I just stumbled upon a video of a young Italian artist explaining her latest song.
What struck the most, is what she says at some point, that I'll translate:
"I've always been an underdog and I still am. People used to make fun of me so I've always been on the lookout for finding that thing that would've made me just like the others. That pair of shoes, the necklace, the right nails, stuff like that. The *thing* to make me just like everyone else. Back in middle school, when black leggings were "in", I instantly bought 3. Because I had to be like everyone else. We're social animals, like Aristotles says, so we need to belong to a group."
