Hello readers, before I delve into the heart of my ponderings, let me preface by saying a few things. First, please realize that it takes a while to build up to my point and what I'm going to talk about isn't microwave philosophy, it's multi-layered and far-reaching.
Secondly, I write in simple terms. I like simple language. I will do my best NOT to use a twenty dollar word if a fifty cent one will do the job. I like simplicity, so please bear with me in that and don’t take it as a sign that I’m unintelligent. In case you’re wondering, my IQ is about 140 and I speak four languages, so in the way that the western world, White Men, judge intelligence, I’m intelligent. I'm educated. I'm successful. In the way that we Natives judge intelligence, all of that means nothing.
Thirdly, realize that all I am about to write is based purely on my own understanding and is being written with only the intent to share my understanding of the world and the universe with those who care to listen. In no way am I attempting to alter, judge or persuade you. However, I hear a lot of people online knocking spiritual principles they obviously know little about. Just because a person has a degree in physics, it doesn't automatically qualify them to practice internal medicine. In the same way, a person who has never prayed or studied any spiritual writings really doesn't know enough to criticize anyone's faith or religion. That's narrow-minded and one-sided.
Ultimately, each person believes what he or she wants to believe anyway. Still, it may be that somebody out there will see something of value in what I have to say, that it may mean something in someone’s life. It means everything in my life. If my words offend you then go away. I will not argue with you. I dislike conflict and I really won’t debate you to try to prove my point. If my words mean something to you or if you want to inquire in a spirit of mutual respect and sharing, then stay. But whatever you do, don’t get all huffy and try to set me straight. It’s my blog. It’s my thoughts and I’m only inviting you to read them, not forcing you to agree with them. But I will not respond to mean-spirited criticism.
What I believe cannot be summed up in a single post, maybe not in a hundred posts and I doubt that given a lifetime I could accurately put it into words, although Heaven knows I try. Nevertheless, here goes.
Ancient philosophers believed that the here and now are but a mirror of reality, that our time on planet earth is much like an existence spent inside a cave and all that we perceive to be reality is but a reflection of true reality. I believe they were closer to the truth than some of us are today. Nothing that exists physically can exist without some causative agent acting upon it to make it exist. Therefore the cause of the existence of the physical universe must be non-physical. It must supersede the limitations of the physical universe. That would mean that the physical universe as we know it must have had a causative agent and that it must have had a point when it came into existence, whether in a flash or over time, is unimportant to me. It is here. That’s what is important to me and the amount of time it took for it to become is irrelevant to the fact that it is here. I will call this causative agent, The Self-Sufficient One. And I will use the pronoun, “he†just for simplicity’s sake, not because I believe that such a being could actually be bound or defined by something as confining as gender.
The Self Sufficient One exists outside the bounds of time and laws of physics. In fact, I believe, that he created the linear existence in this temporal world for a specific purpose. The Self Sufficient One decided to create something just for the sake of creating it, just as a human artist might decide to create something because it brings her pleasure. So he created for "his good pleasure" or as folks around here might say, “He made everything that he wanted to make, just because he wanted to make it.†Among his creations were various entities with amazing capabilities. He created things for them to do and took great joy in these beings. Just as an artist's work is a part of that artist made reality, these beings were a part of the Creator made alive. He made them in such a way that they could never be destroyed. He made all the matter and energy consisting of them constant and dictated that nothing he created could ever be uncreated. All that exists is eternal because he is eternal. It could merely be changed as in the law of conservation of mass and energy. I believe he established perimeters or laws upon his creation, for the very nature of a creation suggests a limitation not present in the creator. I guess you could say that it is ‘artistic logic’. Among these living creatures there was one [I’ll call him Beautiful One] who desired to also have the creative abilities of his maker so he began to seek them, but the Self-Sufficient One could not make this one his equal, because it was not possible. It would be like me, as an author, giving the characters in my story the ability to rewrite the story without my intervention. So, when the Self-Sufficient One explained to this one that he was only a created being and not the Supreme Being, this one disagreed. Not only did he disagree, he convinces multitudes of other created being to disagree along with him. You see, he was very good with his own brand of limited logic and he was very convincing to any created being that would listen.
Beautiful One said that he was his own creator and believed that he could create a reality better than the one the Self-Sufficient One had made, so he accessed his creator of being unfair. He wanted an existence without the Self-Sufficient One. He made strong assumptions, because even though he lacked the abilities of his maker, he was still capable of more than those of us bound in this temporal dimension which is governed by the laws of physics and mortality can understand. So the Self-Sufficient One agreed to let him give it his best shot. He gave him a little thing called a solar system and told him to create to his heart's content. He even gave him the building blocks to do it with, but still Beautiful One lacked the ability of the Creator to just will something into existence. His attempt was a failure and the world he had been given was chaotic and devoid of life.....my break time is over...more to come.
