James Gunn says Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be a 'heavier' story

I remember Gunn finishing his first draft before he was fired (and eventually reinstated).

He was involved in developing Avengers 3 and 4, so I'm pretty sure he knew what was up with Gamora.

This film, he describes as more emotionally hefty... so that's pretty impressive after GotG2 and Avengers. I really want this to be good.

But we'll get an xmas special before this airs in 2023.

Good. Christmas specials based on popular sci-fi movies always turn out well.

Chewbacca's Christmas was a gift to humanity!

More seriously...south park Christmases were always good. Comedy works better. I trust Gunn too.

If it was anyone else, tho..?

Yes, that "pleasure box" or whatever they called it was truly something.

I'm sure Diahann Carroll's would have been happy knowing that this was what I thought of when I heard she passed on.

Why doesn't anyone say Happy Life Day anymore? I'm sick of the war on Life Day from these secular democrat liberals. I watched a really good segment by Lando O'Reilly about this last night on Gundark News. Man he really owned the college democrats chairman that was sent to debate him live on air.

i knew they were bad because they didn't post enough pictures of the Imperial flag on Empire Day.

James Gunn gives his upcoming superhero movie the not boring title of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

More about how basically he had the draft completed three years ago but has only had to do minor tweaks. Gunn was listed as an exec producer I think on both Infinity War and Endgame, so he was involved with knowing the story line and smoothing things out. He finished his draft after Infinity War while knowing also what was happening in Endgame, so the plotlines should be dealt with properly in the original script aside from tweaking.

I think it is interesting he says he's never been asked to do setup for other films (i.e., totally superfluous stuff), which we have seen from time to time elsewhere.

I need to watch these movies again because I don't really remember them, especially the last one.

There was actually an earlier attempt in the early 90s called with Jesse Ventura. It's very important for understanding the mythos.

Why can't we get an expanded cinematic universe team up featuring Jesse Ventura, Neil Breen, Tommy Wiseau, Samurai Cop guy, Cynthia Rothrock, and Bigfoot all battling the forces of evil?

I've disliked the first movie (one of the worst from MARVEL avenger's prologue series) but I've found the second one to be cool and of good taste. Im not sure if I truly look forward towards this one. Lets see what MARVEL does for things to not get overly repetitive or boring. A "heavier" or "darker" movie, depending on how it is carried, could help over that.

What did you dislike about the first one? I prefer the second, but I still enjoyed the first -- it just was a bit clumsy in trying to get everyone together (disjointed from a story-telling perspective, i.e.). I thought the last 20-25 minutes were pretty great, as well as most of the prison sequence.

What if I told you I don't remember with accuracy anymore? That was mannyy years ago!
Sorry! I forgot to say that it was one of the worse in my own opinion - I've had friends who liked it.

What I remember is that I don't like the "human" main character, he tries to be cool but fails? At least on the first movie. I've also find the first movie plot boring - so boring and even irrelevant to MCU that I don't even remember what it was about anymore. I've also find the story of "hero space pirates", the guys who were criminals on the space and selfish for most of the time to be a hell of a cliche already. That was used on Star Wars with Han Solo on the 80's, it was used on Captain Harlock anime that is also from 90's or the 80's, and I've seen it in other places too. For the Star Wars and Harlock, it was great because it wasn't a cliche back then. Now that I am forcing to remember more, I think I don't find the story of the first movie to be much original as well.

Sorry for the weak critique, its really that I barely remember it anymore! Thor Ragnarok or the main Avengers movies are much more memorable.

So i guess that is the angle ... Poulter is no Adonis, but he can be a wise ass. Kind of playing against expectation for Warlock but totally within bounds for quirky GotG version...
