Re Lakota Ogala Sioux response to the Coronavirus.
"Recently the tribe has been vaccinating its communities at near double the rate of South Dakota."

"
Recently, Rosebud reported no new coronavirus cases for the first time in months. President Rodney Bordeaux said emphatically that it's safer to be here than in much of the rest of South Dakota. For one, masks are required in all public places. Nightly curfews are still being enforced. And there are temperature checks at the entrance to every tribal building.

"Now we're hearing of other strains coming so we really need to be vigilant," Bordeaux said."

I am glad they don't have their heads up their asses. I'm glad they aren't saying Oh well, it's just a flu. We just need to hang out outside for awhile, we'll BE FINE.

It is hilarious to me when people without a single speck of health care education or experience expound on clinical trials and side effects possibly associated with other diseases regarding vaccines given to millions and millions and act like only 5 people have taken it and we just can't be sure if it's safe.

This is the result of a real time clinical trial of a non-vaccinated population. This will eventually happen all over the country so, you end up at the ED after a car accident, you are on your own. All the psychotically individual bootstraps morons that actually caused it, should love this. Go drink some Betadine and be done.

I just want to say that even if I live on the other side of the Atlantic there are similar problems in the making here. Which is that local rural hospitals could get overcrowded soon. Since the capacity is small and the combination of delta and cold mountain climate will probably prove to be a bad mix with pretty unvaccinated local population (many communities are bellow 30% vaccination rate and generally old). Therefore this winter in inland areas could prove to be quite unforgiving in some places. This is truly a global problem that goes far beyond daily politics in US.

Right. But I have to keep reminding myself that people like theb reside in another reality full of paranoia as do most all of the rabid anti-vax population. I'm not including anti-vax pundits or politicians - they are ALL vaccinated. But none of them see beyond the US borders - everything out there is scary.

...
“It’s clogging up resources, it’s hard to give, and a vaccine is $20 and could prevent almost all of that,” said Dr. Christian Ramers, an infectious disease specialist and the chief of population health at Family Health Centers of San Diego, a community-based provider. Pushing antibodies while playing down vaccines, he said, was “like investing in car insurance without investing in brakes.”

The government-supplied monoclonal antibodies, made by Regeneron and Eli Lilly, have been shown to significantly shorten patients’ symptoms and reduce their risk of being hospitalized — by 70%, in the case of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail. The treatments, given in a single sitting, use lab-made copies of the antibodies that people generate naturally when fighting an infection...

...
Within days of his infusion, Jones had left the bedroom where he had been quarantined and returned to his work as a landscape architect. But he was still weighing whether to be vaccinated.

His doctor was pushing for the shot, he said. But the monoclonal antibodies had worked so well that he was tempted to simply return for another infusion if he caught COVID-19 again.

“If I can go get an infusion and feel as good as I do right now, man, I’d rather not take a vaccine that has just been developed,” he said. “That makes me nervous, still.”

:bored:

Anti-body drug = $2100 per dose, no longevity, might need again, helps one person once.
Vaccine = $20 dose, prevent sickness, helps curb spread

Vaccines (which teach your body how to produce its own antibodies) are not trusted by these people, whereas they would rather get shot up with lab-made antibodies that do the same thing. Maybe if they had to pay out of pocket for these drugs, they'd give it another look.

If the people who refuse to get vaccinated or wear masks were hurting only themselves, I would say: good riddance. Darwin's law and all. But they are impacting those around them. In other areas of life, that is often considered criminal negligence, especially when they have been warned, and the risks are well documented.

Being unvaccinated without proper medical reasons for that is actually the most like drunk driving. In the moment you mess up yourself as well as people around you. However the offender usually doesn't get what they did wrong until it is too late.

and there's very few people who have medical reasons, fuck! my friend who has cancer and ms and 0 immune system got vaxxed she already has the booster so her immune system would be closer to someone with a normal one, she was high risk even at 2 doses. but still my point being there is very few people who can't get vaccinated. I'm sure there's some like someone with severe allergies to an ingredient but most people can they just won't. And it is like drunk driving.

Yes, people for which vaccination isn't recommended are very rare cases and in general shouldn't be dragged into this debate. Since these are people will completely messed up metabolism and various severe medical problems. But here I have mentioned that anyway. The point of vaccinating everyone is partially exactly to "smuggle" this group through collective immunity. Since for them COVID is basically a death sentence in most cases.

Very thankful the FDA didn't try to appease the politicians and approve booster shots for everyone. It sounds sensible to make them available to people 65 and over and immuno-compromised. Can you imagine the foolishness of having 16-year-olds getting booster shots now when they just barely got their first shots a month or two ago? If there is extra vaccine, then get it to India and Africa if we don't want fresh mutations showing up and if we care at all about humanity. I am very thankful for scientists and wish the politicians would just get out of the way and stop trying to mess the world up.

The thing is the booster shot for general pop is 8 months after the 2nd dose. So 16 year olds wouldn't be getting it yet. But yeah let's get more of the world based vaccinated first. I do agree with that

This is a good video about boosters. I think the Israel data is on people aged 40 and up, but that research shows lower numbers for serious infection with boosters. There are not references to population groups under 40 in this presentation of this document. Is there data on whether a booster would strengthen immunity for teenagers who are fully vaccinated after 8 months?

This looks pretty promising. Denmark towards google has 76% of its people with one dose and 74 with both (and good chunk of the rest are probably minors and people who went through COVID). The country has given up on all covid measures, the days are getting pretty short so far north ... but the numbers are just going down. What supports the path theory, with large vaccination rate the virus has no path and the pandemic starts to fade. Since pretty much all human bodies are hostile to it and it can't really establish itself in more people than the ones that are being cured. What then leads to fade out.

Worldometer Denmark

Plus there are more of fairly similar examples regarding mass vaccination and downward virus trends.

Portugal (first dose 86%, second dose 83%)
Worldometer Portugal

France (first dose 74%, second dose 64%)
Worldometer France

Italy (first dose 73%, second dose 66%)
Worldometer Italy

Spain (first dose 80%, second dose 77%)
Worldometer Spain

Therefore if these countries continue this despite the autumn for a few more weeks those countries will be fully back in normal. Since for them the pandemic will be over if there wouldn't be some drastic mutations. Because they will have heard immunity.

I think things are going fairly well overall. I haven't heard of any quarantine camps (as described by the CDC in the link below) in the US yet. Maybe that will be the eventual consequence of not "consenting" to mandatory vaccination? Although, I did hear that some hotels were being used for that purpose in Canada... :unsure2:
