Wasn't sure whether to put this in the coronavirus thread or the Trump/Biden thread, and figured I'd start a new one.

I came across these Shaub tweets, and I'm not sure I agree. Sure, there's a die-hard cult out there, but I'd imagine death by covid is one of the few deaths that would not cause a big enough martyrdom to be an overwhelming threat. Because it would essentially be like Toto pulling back the curtain and revealing that the great and mighty Oz is actually a tiny man behind a curtain. Right?

I think even if he had a heart attack, we'd need to worry about Q convincing people it was murder. (And suffice to say, actual assassination would definitely create martyr chaos). But being killed by something he's been preaching for months isn't that bad, that Dems have been lying about to make him look bad, etc?

Thoughts? (About this specifically, or general related tangents).

It is horrible to say this but to be honest, I think the world would be a better place without him. :(

Considering how his willful ignorance has contributed to thousands of deaths, I really can’t say I’m surprised to hear people say things like this.

Some thoughts

1) I think it's best not to try too hard to contemplate the thoughts of crazy people, trying to do so is like trying to nail jelly to a wall. Instead I think it's best to just assume the worst and that these fools will just run ripshit for a while if their Mango Messiah should die.

2) The messages out of the White House seemed all over the place on Friday. First he tested positive but felt fine, then he had a mild cough and low fever, then he had fever and aches and trouble breathing but it was 'mild' then he's being flown to a hospital. All over the course of 20 hours or so. Hopefully today will be a little clearer

3) While I do not wish death on anyone (most especially the President, regardless of how much I loathe the man) but at the same time there is something wholly poetic about getting sick within weeks of an election from a virus he and other Republicans have known about for the better part of the year and have done fuck all about it. The reason the ACB press conference is quickly becoming a super spreader event is because their own own hubris. I don't want them to die, but I would like to see some fucking humility on their part about how their own arrogance and willful choices to ignore the science nearly killed them all and how much its devastated the country.

I know I won't, I have no faith in Republicans anymore, but it would be nice.

Like I said yesterday, I care about the people working at the WH (butlers, kitchen, housekeeping, grounds people...) and the security details (Secret Service, Marines) that are being exposed daily. As far as Trump or his family or his supporters - I will show them exactly the amount of empathy they have shown the American people suffering from COVID.

And Trump is finding out real quick that socialism is probably going to save his life.

To be honest I don't really agree with this. First of all his base exists for a long long time and they will probably continue to exist for a long time. The only difference is that he managed to channel the base in a way that no nobody did for a long time, if ever. Therefore "removing so large part of the country" simply isn't likely for the foreseeable future. Plus if he indeed gets defeated through elections he will once again be declared martyr. Because of voting by mail, because of impeachment, biased MSM, .... you name it. Therefore his base is here to stay and the only real way to "solve" this is to actually fix the country. So that people can have normal lives and thus they will forget the whole thing on the long run through new generations.

On a personal level I am for sure not shedding any tears or losing sleep at night over his Covid diagnosis. In fact I hope he is too unwell to win reliction and it would be a very karmic thing being hoist by his own petard and I cannot feel empathy for this man for he shows none to anyone. I just hope he hasn't infected any hard working staff though.

For the love of God please get out of your absurd Ni-conspiracy echo chambers and start talking to conservatives again before you all work yourselves up into panic attacks over insane projections.

For the love of God please stop trolling these threads and start actually having real conversations with people on the forum before you work yourself up into an aneurysm.

Something that keeps occurring to me is that Trump surrounds himself with yes-men at the cost of competence. This has also been true of doctors he's chosen in the past; he chooses someone who will give the public report he wants to be released. So, if the team currently helping him has been hand-picked by him (previous to getting infected), even though sky is the limit as far as cost, they still won't be as competent as experts who are allowed to discern truth on their own.

I mean, here's to hoping?

I really just want the freaking election to be over -- it's kind of sick that it drags out for months and months and I think we've all been ready for vote for a long time. This feels like an ongoing state of noise and more noise and just allows others things to muddy the picture.

I don't care whether he is sick or not sick or what scheme is or is not at play. We all know what the candidates stand for, we all know what our current leadership has done or not done, and nothing new changes any of that -- they are still culpable. I would just stay on target, note how this fits in with what we already knew ("Guy infects most of his upper echelon + self because of lax protocols and downplaying virus, while taking advantage of opportunities/resources many Americans do not have"), and move forward.

And what would a Trumplican like you have to teach either current or former lifelong Republicans like myself and highlander? Wake the fuck up, man. That you keep pretending you're some expert conservative when you're merely a self-described "I vote for the person with the big ideas" goofball, makes me laugh every day. Trump is not a conservative. Hell, even real deal conservatives agree on that so what is your excuse for the endless ignorance? You keep pretending to be something you are not, and I already asked you long ago if you were a lifelong Republican. You are not. So drop the act.
