Technological proficiency does not equate dominance or a political monopoly. If we entertain this scenario, it would depend on their reasons for being here.
Knowing the obstination and greed of some humans, they might even be exploited and taken advantage of.

They're already taking advantage of the idea of their existence in many ways. *laughs*

Actually that's a good premise for a movie (or at least a Vonnegut-esque short story), alien invaders from Mars taking over the government because they promise tax cuts which makes Republicans install them as supreme overlords..

you mean the one that led to settlers from a proud island nation forming another proud nation with 5 times the population over the course of 2.5 centuries? yeah, i know that one. not very kid friendly story. i got mad at said new proud nation despite being born in it. ;)

Actually, not the same story. It is a Korean novel that I read, and it had magic (seeded by the aliens). The premise is actually the spoiler, since before you had no idea what the fuck was causing anything till about half way through.

I am American actually, but the novel was translated. It was good, but I need to finish it. about 3/4ths of the way through it.

So- about that.

Interesting time for the government to resurrect the subject.

For decades they’ve denied everything and now they’ve fully disclosed evidence. Twice. Why?

Also, it’s not like I didn’t believe in alien civilizations before this considering the sheer scope of the universe but isn’t it funny that the public doesn’t seem to give two fucks. This is information I’ve been waiting for since watching Leonard Nimoy host In Search Of as a child. Any thoughts?
