Anyone got any good tricks or tactics or recommendations for this? I get it all the time and I know its at least in part to do with eating some diabetic products, I think they are full of laxatives, and I also drink lots and lots of coffee, black, which I think can influence it too.

Does anyone know if gut bacteria and bion has a lot to do with this? Like should I heavily invest in probiotics and stop drinking soft drinks altogether for instance?

Cut out bread and dairy products. Sourdough bread is still okay.

Black coffee, as you already noted, may contribute, so cut back to one or two cups daily. Cutting cream and sugar makes a big difference

Defini Cut out sugary drinks like soda. Get one of those nalgene water bottles and drink at least two bottlefulls a day. You may pee like a racehorse at first but your body will get used to it.

Add ginger to your diet, it’s great for reproductive health

I drink a pint of a special apple cider vinegar based tonic daily. It includes water, honey, ginger, cinnamon and a small amount of salt.

I did all of the above and it helped with my indigestion. I also started dropping weight rapidly as a result of these plus cutting out processed and fast foods

Hey 🙋 IBS sufferer here (the kind that manifests as just abdominal discomfort) for roughly 15 years now.

Try to drink plenty of water, eat some ginger after a meal or peppermint spirits (available where herbal supplements are sold) mixed with water. Pace yourself at mealtimes. If it's legal where you live, I recommend medical marijuana. Try to get your anxiety under control as that can often be an underlying factor in IBS. Whether that means going for a run or doing yoga - anything that gets you moving as that releases endorphins to get you in a general better mood. When you're in a better mood your body can digest food easier.

Also practice intuitive eating; don't eat when you're not hungry, don't force yourself to finish a meal at a restaurant, no shame in getting a to-go box... avoid emotional eating or binging. Avoid foods that bring up the acidic content of your stomach (grains, sugar, processed foods) if at all possible (it's not altogether possible for someone like me b/c I live in somewhat of a food desert). Basically try to do what you can to lead a healthy lifestyle and supplement with those herbs I mentioned, because there's no prescription medications available for IBS at the moment and sometimes the natural way is the best way.

Couldn't hurt. I think I'm currently taking this one - Ultimate Probiotic-10 Vitamins & Supplements by Nature's Truth - it's that brand but don't know if it's that particular amount of probiotics, which pretty sure it is because I know I paid a lot for it.

Soft drinks have a lot of ingredients that personally give me the willies. I would substitute them with sweet tea and juice if you are having cravings.

kombucha and yogurt are good, and you should drink less black coffee and yes, cut out soft drinks all together.

Pretty sure lactose, carbonated drinks, any caffeine and refined grains will make IBS worse. But IBS is too much bacteria in the small intestine. If that's what the actual dx is - more fermented foods is probably not going to help matters.

I didnt know IBS was that but it would be something I'd suspected was the case, I take probiotics to try and correct problems with gut bateria created by historic binging on diet sodas which I've found out since will kill your gut bacteria, its maybe a swing too far in another direction.
