Instinctual Variant

I thought this would be fun, since I've never asked anyone here to type me (outside of instinctual variants).

1) Context:
a) What is your age range and general location (Country so that cultural values can be taken into account)? Do you have any impairments that may affect the way that you answer this questionnaire? Any religious or political beliefs (or anything else along those lines) that also might have an effect?

I'm in my early 20s. I live in the Caribbean. And idk, is social anxiety an impairment?

b) Which types are you currently considering? Why are you considering them and why haven’t you decided on one?

Well I think I'm an isfp...I've not been considering any other types at the moment. I've read about the functions and relate to some stuff but I guess I want an objective point of view.

2) What do you deem as your purpose in life?

I have no idea. I've actually wanted to find it but I'm not sure. I can only say my purpose in my own life is to learn a lot about myself through my romantic relationships. Most of my growth as a person has occurred either during or after a relationship. It's like I have a rebirth...when I'm single I sometimes feel like I become stagnant.

3) Of the seven deadly sins, which one(s) do you relate to the most and the least and why?
I relate to both envy and sloth.
For envy: I tend to envy people who seem to have things I desire. Certain personality traits, relationships with others, etc. I just compare my life or myself to them and that happens. I see people who have something I lack and I should be happy for them but it just fills me with sadness.

For sloth: I am an avid procrastinator. I'll basically put off anything that is too difficult or takes any extra effort out of me. Even if it is something that will help me in the long run, feeling comfortable and relaxed at this very moment outweighs that. I will put off things to the last minute then try to get it done and convince myself I did all I could (even thought I didn't).

4) Analyzing your relationships with others, briefly describe:
a) The type of people you are drawn to
People who are assertive, outgoing, know what they want in life...basically the opposite of myself. And I guess someone I see as perfect.

b) The type of people who are drawn to you
I would say people who are more assertive and know what they want in life. But they tend to end up being more aggressive than assertive, sometimes controlling. I also attract people who are calm and seem like they have everything together. People who want to help me (even though I never asked for help) in some way.

c) The type of people you are repulsed by
I don't like aggressive people. People who are unreliable, don't take me seriously, people who are not open-minded. Also, people who talk about sex in a flippant manner.

5)What are the traits in others that you admire but you cannot emulate yourself? Elaborate.
Assertiveness, confidence, optimism. I wouldn't say I can't emulate these but they just don't come naturally to me. Being confidence and assertive would require me to feel like I matter or I'm of more importance than I think. Optimism...I guess I can seem that way, but only outwardly. Inside my head I'm not really. I just don't share most of my negative thoughts with people. I can be optimistic for a some time but then I usually realize it's just me ignoring problems.

6) Describe your relationship with the following:
a) Anger
Months ago I would've probably said nothing can get me angry. I didn't really realize what it felt like to be angry. Now that I do, I realize it happens a lot more often than I thought it did. It's almost overwhelming and I feel as if I always need to control it. It takes a split second for something to make me angry, but I just pretend it's not happening even though I'm boiling with anger, lol.

b) Shame
Shame...I think the only time I feel actually shame is if I let people treat me badly, knowing that I can stop it. Yea, I don't really know how to express my relationship to shame.

c) Fear
I've never really been the type of person to hide that I was afraid. As long as it was something I consciously knew I was afraid of. The only kind of fear I've never been able to admit openly is being scared that someone might leave me so I do whatever they want.

d) Love/passion
I love a lot of things. I tend to develop some form of obsession with anything that I love. I just want to meld myself into something until I'm sick of it. One of the things I love the most is music. It helps me to feel all the emotions I want, and says everything I can't say.
When it comes to the love involving a person, I tend to put them on a pedastle. See them as all these things that are perfect in my eyes, things that I'm not. This might not seem like love since I'm just seeing what I want. Well it usually doesn't change much for me even after the rose coloured glasses have been removed. I still accept the person completely, sometimes to the detriment of myself. And I've learned that I can love someone, accept them but not let it destroy me in the process.

e) Conflict
I don't like it, I wish it never existed but it does. I'm like a deer in headlights during anything that I perceive as conflict. It feels somewhat threatening. As if I would ruin things between me and another person if I started conflict. It's uncomfortable but I still need to endure it sometimes. Without it, I can't really have an honest relationship with anyone.

7) What are some of the themes that have played a prominent role in your life (ie. A struggle you’ve been unable to conquer, ect)?
Isolating myself, weak boundaries, feeling like I'm missing something, feeling trapped in my life.

8) Answer only one of the following:
a) [College aged and above] What is your area of work/study? Why did you choose this and would you change it? If so, what would be your ideal?
Computer science. I chose this because at the time I was really interested in computers, programming and seeing creations that would come from it. But as usual, I usually start to dislike things whenever I have to do them repeatedly and in an environment like school with deadlines and stuff. I would maybe change my major to anything that is creative, like animation.

9) When meeting a new person, what do you tend to focus on?
I haven't met anyone in so long, I can't even remember this. I think I focus on their actions a lot. Like their actions towards me. I guess whether they seem interested in me or not.

10) How do you feel about humanity as a whole? What do you feel are some of the biggest problems the human race faces and why?
I don't have a deep feelings about humanity. I think the biggest problem is not being able to put oneself in another's shoe. From my own experiences, some people seem unable to do this which means they end up hurting someone they're close to. It can also extend to others.

11) What are some of your hobbies and interests?
Reading books, watching movies, listening to music, watching cooking videos, drawing, watching art videos (I would say cooking videos fall into this category), daydreaming about a perfect life lol.

13) How do you usually “hang out” with your friend(s)? When answering, think about what activities you tend to choose, whether you hang out with one person at once or many, whether or not you initiate the interaction.
I tend to hang out with one person at a time. If there's multiple people (especially if I'm not close to them) I'll tend to find some excuse to leave. I don't tend to initiate interactions for the most part. I'll do it once in a while but i feel like overall it's usually the other person. The activities usually involve sitting around doing nothing, relaxing, going for lunch or going out and doing something fun together (like playing bowling, going to a concert, the beach, or even just going for a walk).

14) What is more important, actions or words? Why?
Actions. I think they both are but words without the actions seem empty, as if they're lies.

15) Oh dear, you’ve been cursed by a witch! It’s ok though, you get a choice on which curse you will receive. Will you choose….
a) To never be able to experience the sensation of taste
b) To be immortal
c) To lose your memories
d) To be poor for the rest of your life
e) Or to never experience passion
Elaborate on why!
I would've said being immortal but I think that would kinda be miserable. I don't think losing my memories would be that bad...maybe? Lol, I'm gonna go with that one, I won't miss anything if I can't remember what it was, right?

16) What do you hope to avoid being? If it helps, describe a person who embodies what you avoid/you as a villain, ect.
I avoid being pushy, selfish, getting what I want at the expense of others. Basically, I don't want to become a selfish person. Selfish in the extreme.

17) How do you relate to obsession? Do you tend to "merge" with others or your interests? How do you feel about the idea of doing this?
As I mentioned before, I'll find something that I like and become intensely obsessed with it for a period of time, then a new thing will come and it'll start all over again. I don't mind being obsessed with things/ interests. Idk if this is considered as merging but I notice I adopt people's behaviours after being around them for extended time periods. Their views, values, I start to evaluate and take on some of them.
I don't have a specific feeling about it since it happens without my notice. I only have a problem with it because it sometimes feels as if I don't have a self of my own. Like I'm bits and pieces that I've stolen from others.

18) Organized or messy? Plans and blueprints or impulse and surprises? What are you preferences and tendencies?
-I can keep up being organized for a month at most then I fall back into doing things whenever I'm in the mood.
-I don't really like plans in that I don't want to be trapped into any commitment, but I'll go along with plans sometimes. I don't tend to plan things either cause I do it when I'm in an upbeat mood and if my mood changes then I'll no longer want to carry out the plan.
-I don't really like surprises since I react awkwardly and apathetic to them. I mean, I'm happy on the inside but it just transfer visually. I'm only comfortable showing emotional reactions when I'm alone or with certain people.
-I'm a very sensitive person. I used to think I'm was too sensitive but now I've just learned to accept it. Also learn to see when things someone says to me are to help and not a personal attack.
-I don't like to be adventrous by myself. I need someone to do it with me for me to feel confident enough.
-I second guess myself a lot (indecisive). I do hate having to make decision and wish someone could handle that for me.
-I'll ask people for advice but end up doing what I want anyways.

19) How do you subjectively view comfort and how do you create comfort in your life and surroundings?
Comfort for me requires a quiet, peacefully environment with minimal people. Being free of burden of responsibilities, and just being able to do whatever I want. It's very difficult for me to create comfort in my life since I don't live alone. So I use other things for comfort, such as music movies and yes sometimes food. I never realized it, but when I feel low in mood the first thing I'll think about is eating something, even when I'm not hungry. Sometimes I isolate myself in the name of comfort but I end up overdoing it.

fatgurl Using food for comfort sounds either like enneagram 8 or 9. And you sound like an introverted feeler. Suppresing anger sounds like enneagram 9. Envy sounds like enneagram 4. Sloth sounds like enenagram 8 or 9.

1) Can you do this test and paste the results please?

Enneagram Test with Instinctual Variant results

2) Can you paste a couple of photos for tv/anime/game/movie characters that you find to be of similar demeanor to you?

3) If you would liken yourself to an animal, what would that animal be and for what characteristics?

I would say probably a cat. Cats are playful, they like their own space and do not like unfamiliar people in it, cats are more subtle in their behaviors, cats seem more laid back and chill.

Helga is IxFJ, probably INFJ. I liken her to Luna from Harry Potter a bit. Would you identify with Luna Lovegood as well? Why, why not?

Harry Potter is ISxJ. In contrast to Hermoine, he comes off a bit more feminine/feely so he might either be an ISFJ. Would you identify with Hermoine? Why, why not?

Kristen Stewart is ISTJ I guess.

Cats I would think more like ISFPs, catty and whimsical. So I guess you must be an SF type.

Your enneagram 4 is high yet 2 and 3 are low this is an inconsistency in that they are all of the heart triad.

Your enneagram 6 and 5 are high, so your head score must be higher than your heart score, which means 4 score is off.

Enneagram 7 an 8 are low, meaning you are not adventureous. That makes enneagram 9 more plausible as the primary type, followed by 5 or 6.

That would make your tritype 96x or 95x. I would associate that tritype with ISTJ.

I think you are an ISxJ. If you perfectly identify with Kristen Stewart, I would go for ISTJ. If you were an ISFJ, I would expect your enneagram 2 score to be a bit higher.

I thought about Luna also, but I think she is way more eccentric, and whimsical seeming. I guess the way I would relate to her is with her gentle demeanor and her willingness to help.
I don't identify with Hermione, she's way more critical and prepared than I am.

Then I would say ISFJ, tritype 946 or 945.
