COME ONE COME ALL
xenaprincess advised this as a great idea.

the purpose of this thread is to share and inspire creativity. It can be poems, stories, lyrics, drawings, digital art, painting...you name it, we got it. Woodwork, whittling, car decorations, ANYTHING with a creative artsy spirit!

In adulthood we are told this lie that art is unrealistic and we must rip it out of our souls but we shall be the revolution. REFUSE TO COOPERATE! FIGHT THE SYSTEM, STAY CREATIVE!

so share your art, and give ideas to others! Let it flow like a bird floating through the air!

If you have a specific page where you show off or sell your art please link it and I'll compile a little list. XD

I'm officially in charge at of the chalkboard at work. Salt and pepper shakers doing a little dance, inspired by Blue Clues. There's also a pizza slice instead of a turkey, terrified and hiding in the bushes from hunters. I like to hide a bit of morbidity into my drawings.

Remember: art is creative and subjective. Don't let anyone tell you your art is meaningless or useless.

@/Earl Grey @/Coriolis dragging you here

I finally did the thing. This is the windows in the store.

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Nice!! They're absolutely cute. お疲れ様- great work. The snowflakes are an absolutely excellent choice, on a glass pane, it looks like they really are falling mid-air. Ah, I remember when I had to paint the walls in high school every year as a part of the school's yearly national show- every year, a new mural. We all broke our backs, but seeing the end result was always re-energizing.

What kind of paint or ink did you use?

it is just acrylic type. I layered over it 3 times. The only issues was the white tube acrylic was so much better than the little bottle ones. XD so this time when I paint he's gonna get me that type so it goes on smoother. On the fun side I'm gonna paint the wooden displays in the store. It is great because it gives me another paint project and he doesn't have to take it down and be sad my art isn't there. XD But he's getting me tube paints for that which will go so much better.

 thank youuu for that. Apparently my brother and mom thought the one thing was a cupcake of some sort. XD It is a snow hill with a christmas bulb on top. LOL. ABSTRACT ART.

the little kids love the snowmen. So that makes me happy. XD

Judging from how artistic you are, he couldn't drain you dry of artsiness even if he tried. I'm glad you're getting an amazing outlet for your artistic endeavours. Having people be there and look at your art really is something different.

Acrylic is gorgeous on wood and cloth- never tried tube paints myself, I hope it goes swimmingly. I wonder if there are any paints that are specifically for surfaces like glass- you can try hunt for some in the future. Failing that, you could perhaps paint cardboard cutouts and tape it to the glass with that ... springy... 3D... sponge... thing... style. Not sure what it's called. You can probably try something like that in the future, and more. So many possibilities with an ever-changing canvas.

that sounds super fun and I am gonna have to try it.

the tube paints are a type of acrylic too, they are just thicker in paint than the bottle ones which seemed to have more water in them. XD

Thanks for sharing this. I have to admit the red thing made me think of Rudolph's nose, but I guess that's part of art - it is open to interpretation. I've never done anything like this so have no idea about the preferred media, etc. but the acrylic you used looks good. I've noticed with painted windows that there is often a *partially* transparent quality to them that adds to the appeal, at least for me, even if the paints are "opaque" - you can "peek" through some of the swirls and strokes sometimes, depending on what texture the artist put into the shapes. I can't quite tell if that is there in yours - usually notice it in person.

How did you do the lettering? You mentioned something about it being challenging to write backwards from the inside. I wondered if you could write it on the outside first, say with a wax pencil or dry erase marker, then trace over it inside, then clean off the wax/marker.

What are the wooden displays like? I see metal shelving in your photos here, and perhaps one thing that is wooden? I also see a sign that says "listening station". Did you make that?

Heyo

I did the lettering without any stencilling or wax. The acrylic comes off easily so kind of what I did was put the letters below and in both directions, went to look outside, took a photo and then based on that I made the lettering itself. I just washed off the extra stuff XD I like the whimsy nature of not using stencils but I think I could make my own stencils in the future.

Imgur: The magic of the Internet this is the store itself. I did not make that, my boss did before. You can see there's the wooden shelves the vinyls and the CDs are in. That is what I would be painting. I want to draw just some little designs. He got me a variety of brushes so it is nice.

I like the freehand look, just was thinking you might get more control writing freehand in the "right" direction outside first. So you are going to paint designs directly on the wood as-is, - or are you going to paint it all a single base color first, then designs over that? Or something else? I like the brick wall behind that. Is the store in an old factory or other repurposed building? Did you make the signs, like the one for "new arrivals"?

They made it the signs before I got there. There's a few newer things like the music stand lettering that was mine. I'll have to take a photo of that.
Designs on the wood as is. The wood itself is nice.
It is part of our old downtown. All those buildings there were made around when the town originally was founded which is really cool. It was actually a paint lessons place before we moved into the space so we inherited some on that design and it's really nice. He wants to put my art on the brick wall XD seems fitting.

Creativity without bravery is like exploring without leaving your neighborhood.

We need to bring back the type of artistic expression that challenged cultural norms and standards and ignored expectation.
