I can't speak for others, But as an INTJ I'm far more athletic than most athletes. Ni take over can lead to some really intense coordination.

I'm with Hard. Type is no indication of athletic ability or inclination. I know an ESTP who barely exercises, and I personally run 2-3 times a week, and I love bicycling and hiking.

I don't like weightlifting, but I do it anyway, because I'm a sucker.

I don't love weightlifting, but I do it anyway because I hate cardo. But I do that too because I have to.

I've always been pretty active all of my life. I played multiple sports at one time. At my age, you almost have to be active in some way, just to not feel like you're falling apart. This is good because my ENFJ is also active, we bike ride, kayak, tennis sometimes. I've tried golfing with him but nothing good ever comes from me golfing (unless it's mini).

I love kayaking, but I haven't gotten to do it often. I hope to change that soon.

My one and only experience with golf was negative, because I played on a really awful golf course in a small town, and they didn't have left-handed clubs.

I think it's not type related, too. I have always been very physical.

We live on a lake so it makes it easy to kayak nearly every day. It's a great workout, even though it looks like a leisurely thing.

Maybe it's not type related, but isn't Se supposed to be tied to being physically in sync with your environment? So I feel that the Se correlation is correct.

Maybe it's not type related.

I've historically been more agile when facing a physical challenge alone than when others are watching, but still better alone with spectators than on a team, which was miserable. But getting more confident with age.

What being in sync with the environment means to me is a lot more broad, simply getting a sense of what to do when face-to-face with a task that you can't get in the abstract. Any situation where you might say, "I'll know how to handle it once I jump in."

I've met so many estps (and istps though not as much as estps) who are athletic and sporty it would be a crime not to mention thrm. They are also good at group sports (which might not always athleticism) because they have the wit and verbal aggression to compete with haters or people competing with you to get into the same team.

So i would say estps and sps are usually on top.

I would say the types with Se (primary secondary tertiary or he weakest) are more athletic than Si types.

I am not entirely disagreeing with Hard and BadOctopus (the last part of your initial post in this thread made me laugh) thay type doesn't indicate athleticism (body structure maybe) but it/your functions does 'shape the way one thinks/deals with the environment' and Se sure does HELP when it comes to HAND EYE CORDINATION.

And i've said this before i deleted my old account - i have three close intj friends who have all excelled in vasty different sports (boxing, wrestling and cricket). And i recently met another intj from work who has also excelled in his chosen sport.

So i would actually say that intjs are athletic. I wouldnt say as much as a Se dom but they do have great hand eye cordination that is nneded and their concentration and discipline helps them a lot.

Mark Rippetoe, or Lou Schuler/Alwyn Cosgrove for the win! :)

Doesn't matter. Although type might lean more or less toward's an individual's motivations as to why they work out or what type of work outs they do. Anyone could be the most athletic...

...But seriously, I am the most athletic.

I agree that physical intelligence is not type related. I remember posting once about how I enjoy outdoor recreation, and received several incredulous replies because of my Enneagram type. It is true that most people are surprised when they find out IRL though.

I suppose I think it's more genetic, or at least inherited (two of my three other immediate family members are also pretty athletically inclined).

I do agree with the point about Se that Legion and riva both made above though.
