I’ve completed one of the questionnaires I found in this forum, and I’d really appreciate any input about my answers and whether they give you any insight into my potential type. Thank you! :)

1) What aspect of your personality made you unsure of your type?
I’m completely indecisive in regard to my type. I’ve questioned myself on all four dichotomies; since I first came to as an INFJ on an online test I’ve considered if I could be a perceiver (INFP), thinker (INTP or INTJ), extrovert or sensor (ISFP). After reading more, I’m inclined towards being a feeler and introvert, but I sometimes doubt my intuition and am clueless as to whether I am a judger or perceiver sometimes.
2) What do you yearn for in life? Why?
Practically, I suppose I yearn for happiness and close relationships (not necessarily romantic, just good relationships with the people around me). I feel like my relationships are very important to me, even though I struggle a lot socially, and I am prone to maybe becoming too reliant on one or two people for my sense of self-worth. On a deeper level, I also yearn for some type of harmony between the worlds in my head and the real world, as I feel more ‘at home’ in the former and struggle because the real world does not have the same sense of ‘magic’ or drama. I find the real world can be quite dull and meaningless sometimes, so I’d like to feel more comfortable in reality, strange as that may sound.
3) Think about a time where you felt like you were at your finest. Tell us what made you feel that way.
I often feel ‘at my finest’ during my academic studies, I have a passion for literature and there’s a moment where, suddenly, it all ‘clicks’ into place and I am able to develop a complex, unique theory which I am proud of (even if nobody else understands it sometimes). I love extended metaphors and exploring deeper meanings - when I discuss my feelings I also often use convoluted metaphors for how my mind works, so I just generally gain a lot of satisfaction from exploring abstract concepts both in literature and in relation to my own psychology. I also enjoy archeaology and adrenaline based activities, so that’s something different I suppose.
4) What makes you feel inferior?
Social relationships aren’t a strong area - I’m very shy, and I don’t know what to say to people. I struggle with verbal communication quite a lot to be honest. On the other hand, if I’m not careful I can be too controlling. I struggle to process my emotions internally and find talking helps, but that’s not always ideal.
5) What tends to weigh on your decisions? (Do you think about people, pro-cons, how you feel about it, etc.)
I think my first consideration is how I feel about it, does it feel ‘right’. I often look at pros and cons but am sometimes prone to not considering things in a balanced way, I’ve been told to write stuff down and that helps but generally I find decisions overwhelming, sometimes I feel pushed into agreeing with others if they pressure me.
6) When working on a project what is normally your emphasis? Do you like to have control of the outcome?
I like to have control, yes, I suppose - but I also value my creativity and ability to explore interesting tangents as I discover them. Generally I like to find a small, neglected niche or detail and work with that, to produce work that is unique and as such is more interesting to me. I enjoy planning for specific events or projects, but not so much within everyday life.
7) Describe a time where you had a lot of fun. How is your memory of it?
I suppose it would be when I went for a drive round a beautiful place recently. I love travelling and looking at scenery, it inspires my imagination and nature has a sense of timelessness that I find quite comforting and inspiring. It’s hard to describe, I suppose it’s a combination of reflection, imagination and visual beauty that I particularly enjoy.
8) When you want to learn something new, what feels more natural for you?
I learn in quite a traditional style, by writing stuff down and memorising it that way. Generally I like working on my own or with one other person. It takes a lot of time for my ideas to form and I’m not good at suddenly coming up with coherent ideas in a group discussion. It’s like my ideas are a mass of nebula-like information in my head, completely scattered and disorganised, and I have to write them down in essay-style before they make sense to me, let alone anyone else!
9) How organized do you think of yourself as?
Not completely disorganised, but not great. I don’t have a calendar really and I prefer to juggle things in my head. Most things get done on time but some things slip through the net. I do lose things quite often as I put them in odd places and then forget about it. If it’s something that matters to me, a project, I can be rigourously organised but less so in regard to everyday considerations.
10) How do you judge new ideas? You try to understand the principles behind it to see if they make sense or do you look for information that supports it?
It’s a difficult question. I suppose I’d see how the idea resonates with my current understanding of the situation, and if it can be integrated into that framework, if not I think I’d look for evidence that validates it.
11) You find harmony by making sure everyone is doing fine and belonging to a given group or by making sure that you follow what you believe and being yourself?
Again, this is a difficult question for me. I’d say I largely follow what I believe and don’t try very hard to fit in with the crowd, yet I often feel like a failure for not reaching society’s expectations and, as I mentioned earlier, I am prone to relying on other people for validation and my sense of self-worth. In conclusion, I’d say I don’t particularly aim to fit in with everybody else, and sometimes I enjoy having a unique perspective, but I can get dishearted and feel sad if nobody else agrees with my opinion.
12) Are you the kind that thinks before speaking or do you speak before thinking? Do you prefer one-on-one communication or group discussions?
I definitely prefer one to one communication. I’d say I think before speaking - sometimes I rehearse even the most basic conversations in my head beforehand just to make sure I get them right!
13) Do you jump into action right away or do you like to know where are you jumping before leaping? Does action speaks more than words?
I can be very impulsive when I’m distressed, angry or upset, however when I’m in a calm state of mind I am reasonably cautious. I don’t mind spontaneity, sometimes it’s exciting, but I also don’t like changes in plans.
14) It's Saturday. You're at home, and your favorite show is about to start. Your friends call you for a night out. What will you do?
It would really depend on my mood. I don’t really like ‘nights out’ but I might give it a try just so I’m not left out. I get quite bored sitting at home watching TV sometime, but at the same time I can find socialising and the outside world quite overwhelming. It’s a delicate balance.
15) How do you act when you're stressed out?
I’m very prone to catastrophising - I get caught up in a ‘tunnel vision’ of deciding that everything in my past has always been bad and the future is doomed. I often make ‘mountains out of molehills’ but actually in real emergencies I am often calm and level-headed, sometimes to the point I am leading other people. I overthink things and decide everybody hates me based on extrapolating meanings and emotions from one tiny comment, but actually I am often misinterpreting quite drastically and there’s not a problem at all.
16) What makes you dislike the personalities of some people?
I don’t like people who are overly harsh and blunt, I value sincerity and honesty but not if it is cruel or hurtful. One of my values is always being honest if I’ve made a mistake, but sometimes comments and observations just don’t need to be said. I hate prejudice and people being narrow-minded or unwilling to listen to different opinions.
17) Is there anything you really like talking about with other people?
I’m often told I compliment people too much - I’m very honest with my emotions, and never insincere, but people often aren’t used to it. I’m prone to idealising and demonizing people sometimes. I enjoy discussing complex social issues and meaningful topics, either personally and emotionally meaningful or meaningful on a wider societal level.
18) What kind of things do you pay the least attention to in your life?
Anything mechanical or maths related isn’t interesting to me. Also household chores like cleaning, washing up: I do them, i just don’t really give them much mental attention in my life.
19) How do your friends perceive you? What is wrong about their perception? ? What would your friends never say about your personality ?
I often wear a mask of comedic behaviour, so people don’t understand that I can analyse things in quite a lot of depth. They are often surprised by my academic achievements as I can’t stand snobbery based on that and don’t really advertise my grades at all. Nobody understands the depth of my fantasy worlds, and nobody understands how much they influence my everyday life and decisions, or how important they are to me. Sometimes, instead, I come across as overly serious and intense, so people don’t realise I’m not that serious inside my own head. They would say I was honest - I’ve never been accused of being dishonest as it is something I cannot stand, they would also probably say I was creative and imaginative. A bit different.
20) You got a whole day to do whatever you like. What kind of activities do you feel like doing?
I’d like to explore the world around me - maybe go on a day trip. I get very bored sitting in the house and I feel like I have to be doing or seeing something. Also maybe researching a topic that interests me, I often find a topic then become a little bit obsessed in researching it.
