Who am I? :) Help me out!

Dear fellow personality interested people!

The first time I read about the MBTI it really caught my interest immediately. Ever since then I have been trying to figure out which type suits my personality best. After reading lots and by that I mean LOTS of different disprictions and studying the cognitve functions I am still not entirely sure. I would really like to get some closure on this, so I hope you guys are able to help me to figure this out. ( Also I am Dutch so I know my English wont be perfect )

1. First of all I remember how I used to drive my mother crazy with always asking, But why? to everything she or another family member would say. The answer 'Just because' clearly wasnt enough for me. I wanted to know why somebody felt a certain way or why things were done like that and not the other way around?
2. I have always been fasinated with stories. Back when I was young I loved it when somebody would read me a bedtime story or when I could just listen to the stories people were telling about themselves. Nowadays I love to read books myself and I also love to listen to music and read the lyrics that goes with it. Especially when there is some deeper meaning begind it all.
3. I am someone who knows a lot of people but only is close to a few of them. I come off as a very private person and I think I can appear to be a bit 'cold' or uninterested on the outside. But once people get to know me in 'one on one' conversations they always seem to like me. I often caught myself doing the chameleon effect. I can be the leader, the listener, the good one, the rebel, the quiet one.. It seems like I do not really know myself that well and that makes me want to be like the other person I am with.
4. On the other hand I do not feel like I really want to be like most people. I like to stand out a bit because I think blending in with everyone sounds really boring. But I do want to be surrounded by people who I can share my views, opions or passions with. If I can not share my expierces I feel I might get caught up in my own mind to much.
5. I seem to figure out other people quickly by observing their behaviour. I know what they want and need I therefor I can easily play along with them. However there are always people who suprise me and I love to unravel mystreries..
6. I do not always like to share my point of view of my beliefs with other people, especially people I do not know very well. Mostly its because I dont like people to critisize me.
7. I can be very impatient. When I am at work and there are things that need to be done I can not rest my mind before they are actually done. ( which annoys my very laid back collegue ) I also can get frustrated with people who start talking, and talking but dont get to the point. I like to know where the conversation is going to and I am not interested in the details before knowing what the actual point is.
8. My surroundings can be messy sometimes because I strongly dislike routine taks, however I feel like I am more at peace with myself once they are clean.
9. I like to go to new places, experience new things and learn about other cultures.
10. I can be really indecisive, because I want to know for sure that I have explored all the options before narrowing down the possibilities. I want to make to best/right decision.
11. I like to 'please' people. I want to give them the best possible birthday gift, or I will take them somewhere they always wanted to go. It makes me happy to see the joy I can cause in other people.
12. I can come off as a pretty confidant person, who knows where to go and what needs to be done to get there. But on the inside I can feel really insecure about things a lot.

Did INFJ description fit you?
There are parts of your post that sounds Fe, but I'm not sure about you being J type.

The first time I read, you seem INFJ. But I read it more carefully for the 2nd time, and I think I saw some Fi in there, especially at Points 4 and 6, how about INFP? ENFP could be a 2nd possibility too.

And point number 10 sounds Ne. Indecisive because you want to explore all options eh? Why INFPs, INTPs, INFJs, & INTJs Struggle to Act

And btw, your people-pleasing ways could point toward enneagram 9.

Thank you both for your responses! When I first learned about the Mbti I was feeling sure about being an INFJ, after reading into the other personalities I became doubtful between INFJ and INFP. I feel like I do not know my 'true' self well enough to make a definate decision. However I feel like I can type all the other people around me so easily, grrr 😉

You are a very tough nut to crack. I see T, F, N, S, I,P, and even a little E. Based on what you put mostly, I can determine that you are probably INFP. You do seem a little abstract and you're interested in the overall point rather than the details leading up to it(N) you do show some analytical traits, but that could be because you are N, mostly you seem to be interested in people rather than ideas or logic (F) you say you appear cold and aloof before one gets to know you (I) and you love new experiences and adapting to/exploring new cultures (P) INFP seems very likely.

Common issue INFJ/P was what I thought about. Just give yourself some time. Maybe read/ write something in other threads and write something more about you in the meantime.

I was thinking of INFJ enneagram 2, but you may be right about it

I can see a lot of different sights on something. However I do like to narrow them done to find out which is the best fit and after that I like to obtain all the information about it, almost being obessive. I don't necesarry feel like sharing these ideas/information.

I seem to be more into finishing projects than starting them, also I like to focus on one project at the time instead of several projects. I also like to be prepared when I get into something new and I am not very quick at making decisions. Also I am very future oriented person, sometimes I really need someone to remind me of living my life as it is right now instead of always trying to look forward.

I promise I will take a closer look at the Ni/Se and the Ne/Si function asap!
