If you want to make this connect with anxiety, it depends on what you're anxious about. If you have a social phobia, then that makes a connection with Fe-inferior. Ti and Ni commonly go together at the top of a function test result. I don't think anybody knows the "why" about that, but it has the effect of strengthening introversion which further diminishes the Fe function because of the additional introversion. Ni also has a dampening effect on Se, with that they are completely opposite functions.

It's probably because Ni is your tertiary type. When Se drops in importance, tertiary theory states that your tertiary type, in this case Ni, takes its place as auxiliary type. You will then become less Se-active and more Ni observant.

Probably just stereotypes I've read that cause me to question.
It would seem that ISTP is obvious. The nickname 'craftsman' fits.

Thanks for the help!

I have a question for you about this. If Ni, as I stated in the post above, has taken the place of Se in your function stacking, how does this alter the idea of being a craftsman?

Perhaps I'm just devaluing Se? I would say that currently I'm more observant, but I feel better when I'm actually building, fixing, or working with something. I think over the past few years I've become more cynical and sluggish, focusing more on observing than actually doing anything. I live in a state of contentment, but I've been happier. I've just recently come to realize this as I've been reading about MBTI.

So you don't imagine bizarre worlds or anything seemingly inherent to Ni?

Not anymore. I used to be able to create worlds and stories in my head up until about four years ago. This may sound odd, but I had a metal bar I took from some exercise equipment and it had just the right weight and balance. While holding it I could induce this state that somewhat resembles lucid dreaming. I was awake, but my sight went black and all I could see was the world in my head. I would still move around though. Somehow I managed to never hit anything. But while in this state I could feel everything in the world that I created. I haven't done it since because I'd always need specific environmental conditions to induce it.

I probably sound crazy now. But that was how I got away from the world while experiencing whatever I wanted to. I could simulate sensations. Sometimes I'd come out of it sweating because I didn't realize how much I was moving around.

I imagine you were mainly moving in circles, otherwise you'd run into walls and doors and random articles of furniture.

Ni tertiary has the effect of diminishing Se such that perception of the real world is transformed through negative imagery. Depending on the degree of Ni's influence, the world of perception may be transformed into a very hostile realm; with Fe in the inferior and with Ni tertiary, the world of external social rules takes on a threatening aspect or "face" which is comparable to the effects of paranoia.

I'm not saying you're paranoid because I don't know you or even the degree to which Ni influences your perceptions. But such a type will become more housebound and a-social the stronger Ni's influence becomes. An attraction to inventing an entire new realm to live in, as a mental construct replacing reality, is another possibility caused by Ni's influence.

I'm gonna go with ISTP. Tertiary use varies (yours would be Ni) with time I've noticed. I go through phases of being very organized and logical, and then just suddenly stop I think. You definitely sound like you use a lot of Se and Ti, and you also claim to be a 5. You don't seem on the social side either. It's logical to conclude ISTP.

Seems unanimous here that I'm ISTP. The people over at personality-cafe have typed me as ESTP, ENTJ, and possibly INTJ. I'm definitely not extroverted, but I still want some more opinions.
Here's some more stuff about me:

I've always been more of a homebody. Picking up new hobbies or interests to keep myself from getting bored.
I suck at small talk. If I have nothing to say, I have nothing to say. So if someone is talking to me, I'll overthink what my response should be and usually it'll come out as "yes" or "indeed".
My humor is a bit random. I do a lot of voices. I've been known to be good at impressions. The subject of my jokes depend on who I'm with. There are some people I like to push to see how far I can go. I'll make a lot of sexual, referential, sarcastic, and dark/twisted jokes.
I don't really drink or do any drugs. I'll drink in social situations and use it as 'social lubricant', but it's not something I really care to do casually. I'll try some drugs just to satisfy my own curiosity, but it's always just a one-off.
I like reading, but I don't do it much anymore. I used to read all the time, but now I prefer movies. Some of my favorites are A Beautiful Mind, Good Will Hunting, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything, The Social Network, Rain Man, and Warrior(2011).
I also like documentaries a lot.
I'm very good at observing things and making accurate conclusions.
I'm an obsessive learner. Once I start, I won't stop until I know everything about what it is I'm studying.
I'm pretty good with my money. I do my budget in my head before making any big purchase.
At the same time I'm a rather impulsive person. I'll buy things on a whim in the moment or decide I want to do 'x' and go do it.
I keep my space mostly clean. But I have been known to let pizza boxes, soda cans, and water bottles build up in random places.
I think first then act. But I'm good at thinking quickly in tough situations.
At work I'll think of a way to fix something, do it so that they have something that works, and then I'll improve it later. Often times I'll just keep going back and making things more and more efficient.
Since moving to AZ I haven't really wanted to do anything. The scenery is awful and it's too hot outside to go for a walk. So like I said before I've become out of shape and lazy. I'm not good at monotonous exercise except for walking since I can lose myself in my head while walking. I also like tennis, but I don't have anyone to play it with and it's too hot to do so anyways.
I'm not interested in controlling people. I may think what they're doing is stupid, but I say let them do their own thing and stay away from me.

I relate strongly to Ti and Ni from what I've read. Most people know me as an analytical observer and that seems to fit well with those two functions.
I am considered an intuitive person. However, I don't care too much about the future. I'll consider long term repercussions and view a problem from all angles, but I personally won't plan too far ahead. Everything I do is well thought out, but it can seem impulsive because I can think quickly. Certain things just 'make sense' so I don't need a really detailed plan. Like when someone brings up something they want to do, I can immediately point out all the flaws.

Looking at this from a non-typological perspective, I'd say you're experiencing dysthymia or some other depressive disorder. I'm not a psychologist, but I'd suggest you look into the possibility because of your change of interests from a younger time.

I do deal with some form of depression. I never considered it too serious though.

What function would it be if you started out talking about Pocahontas and made your way to Friends?
Like I was talking to my coworker the other day and she was listening to the soundtrack for some reason. I went from Pocahontas to The Proposal to Shawshank Redemption to Family Guy to Friends. They were all connected by Indians. I thought of a few others but didn't bother bringing them up.
From that conversation I went into the sound bells make because 'Chandler Bing' on Friends. I said it was like a noise and then thought 'what actually makes a bing noise?'. So we talked about whether bells go ding, ting, or bing.

This conversation was when I was feeling good. My medication had just kicked in. Would you attribute that to any function? I have conversations like this often.

You've just HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD regarding the story behind the ISTP/ISFP tertiary.

Ni-tertiary is responsible for the more-or-less eccentric thinking and behavior of the ISTP. It explains exactly why they are often hipsters who are on the cutting edge of every new fad or movement, and typologically why they try to be individuals but without trying to be stand-out individualists as with the Ni-dom.

"Eccentric" isn't really the right word for this. It is more like a hipster style of doing things, just bordering on eccentric, quietly negative to social norms.
