I'm going to assume that was a genuine question rather than a rhetorical one of frustration.

notable....
I talk the exact same way online as I do in rl, just usually not in front of groups.
I moved half way around the world because I felt I needed to experience life
I used to be a cutter
I lost 30+ pounds on my own and without unhealthy habits
I can find good in even the most depressing situations (I am probably the happiest depressed person you'll ever meet).
I love to know everything and I'd be omniscient if I could.
Understanding myself and others is a big big deal to me.
I rarely finish my projects
I have a MASSIVE amount of potential (not that it does me good if I don't know how to use it!)
I'm 'pretty good' at almost everything and 'great' at nothing.
I'm good at improvising
I have *no* poker face, my emotions are immediately readable.

Now I'm very confident of ENFP. That's the shape things seem to be taking from my perspective.

ah, thanks guys, and (not that I think it'll change your opinions) but I forgot one of the most important things. I'm ADHD (*not* self-diagnosed, not general practitioner diagnosed, but diagnosed by field specialists...three separate times, twice as a kid and once as an adult). :D
I'm also notoriously bad at a. being on time b. staying on topic in a conversation (dude, have you ever wondered how it would change the major religions if there was definitive proof that aliens were real?....B-but Brio, we're talking about what we want for lunch....oh, but lunch and religion, they *could* be connected....w/e Brio) c. not fidgeting d. learning languages, other than the one I know.

As a prospective ENFP, the question you should ask yourself is "am I awesome?". Therein lies the answer.

lol, thanks Erin

Sytpg: that's not a fair question because my automatic answer is "no, I suck." ( But I *could* be awesome and not know it. I haven't been really self-confident since pre-adolescence and I suck at *cheer leading* myself) I grew up with everyone telling me there was something wrong with me, I *know* I annoy people. I can't attract an effing boyfriend for the life of me. What's awesome about that?

Would you say you always answer the question the same way? It's one thing to think of our life in terms of "accomplishments" and it's another to think "Wtf do I care?I'm the king of the fucking world!".

Seriously, though, I think the most important aspect remains how comfortable you feel around people you like.

yeah...when you walk into a room at a party to do feel comfortable...do you get excited about all the people you'll meet and go up and talk to them and instantly feel a connection and have an easy time relating to them...almost like you've known them a lot longer?
do you typically say whatever is on your mind without a lot of filtering which can sometimes shock others and embarrass yourself? hehe
do you get really excited about new interests?

hmm...i may suck at this sort of stuff, sorry. :)

no, I wouldn't always answer that question the same. If I'm feeling confident or in the zone or having a "good" day I'm goin to answer "hell yeah! I rock!"
BUT, if someone has just called me an idiot, no.
If someone is looking at me like I'm nuts, no.
If someone is looking at me like I'm annoying/frustrating/something they wiped off the bottom of their shoe , no.
If someone has just pointed out how I don't measure up to their standards/any standards, no.
If I feel I've just caused anyone trouble/difficulty/unhappiness, no.
If I feel I've done something less than perfect, no.
If I'm just having a 'bad' day, no.

How comfortable do I feel around others? depends on if the person knows me well and/or if they dislike me, and how many others there are.
One or two or three people, I'm almost always comfortable. (except this one coworker, who I shrink from, because she *does* look at me like i'm something she scraped off her shoe) I was very comfortable working as a cashier, though the monotony killed me.
In front of a class or giving a lecture and I'm comfortable. Embarassing myself in front of people, I'm surprisingly comfortable with that. Meeting new people at random I'm comfortable with. Meeting new people around people I already know or at clubs/bars I'm not at all comfortable with. I tend to be very comfortable until that first person points out how ridiculous I am, and then I clam up and/or leave. If I don't know what anyone is talking about or if they're all talking about shallow things I'm very uncomfortable. I'm very self conscious about how people who are 'watching' me see me (i.e I'd say hi to someone on the street, but the person in the bet next to me at a hostel is someone I won't even make eye contact with).
Ok, I don't know if that helped, but it's as honest and thorough an answer as I can give.

For some reason, I keep getting a strong INFP "feel" from your posts. I will admit that I don't like disagreeing with Jack and a bunch of ENFPs because they're usually pretty accurate with this stuff. Can't shake that initial read of INFP though, so I tried to go back through your posts to find some concrete basis for it:

"settling conflicts" within myself and between others is paramount to me.

That sounds more INFP to me. I may not care to settle a conflict between other people if it doesn't affect me or my friends in some way. The INFPs I know would be bothered just by seeing people having a dispute. (Small sample size, I know, but these are just my half-assed observations here.)

- maybe I'm *too* introspective and can't see the truth
- Why is resolving myself, and understanding myself, and bettering myself, like, and *obsessive* thing with me?

INFPs are probably more likely to question themselves and their type. Seems like ENFPs go along with something until we get some piece of evidence to make us rethink our analysis of the situation. The INFPs I know tend to re-think things over and over in their head even when there's no new data to reconsider.

- got bored easily with friends and would wander off to sit by myself in the closet for hours

- I *don't* like being in large (bigger than 5) groups

- People don't energize me, they wear me out.

Why aren't people drawn to me?

Why it is I'm so bad at getting 'plugged in' with people or groups?

Like Sytpg said, the most important factor is how you feel around other people. These things don't really sound ENFP.

Here's a quick test I stole from the extroversion thread. Which one of these statements are more accurate for you?

A) I can be out with 5 friends and feel fine, but the moment 3 strangers show up and tag along, I become an awkward social disaster.

B) I LOVE strangers! the stranger the better.

Edited to add: I love Erin's question about whether you instantly feel like you've known someone for a long time. That's probably a pretty good indication of ENFP vs. INFP.

well...hell. i have no idea because i have certainly had days or times when i felt less confident for whatever reason...doing something out of my comfort zone...or with people i couldn't connect with...it does shake me but it's rare...but maybe i've just had more control over my situations then you have...maybe i'm a lot older...i don't know.

both of the child descriptions fit me almost perfectly, except for these lines:

quiet and gentle
enjoy reading (I LOVED stories but I wasn't into reading until almost middle school)

they're very independent and want to do things for themselves
they probably tend to be dramatic, and enjoy acting or performing

neither a nor b fit me. I am usually fine if 3 strangers join as long as they don't treat me like the third wheel. if, though, they know the other people better than yeah, it fits.

and B...no

I know, that's why I used it. :)

Your posts always make me go  because they're so dead-on ENFP.
that's funny...and i love reading other enfp posts on here because there certainly is a specific train of thought there...and love how they mostly answer something the way i would...SO COOL! :D
