Kyuuei is our second featured member! Kyueei is a wonderful hobbyist who can easily be identified by her constant efforts towards self improvement. This is most evident by her annual Healthy Habits threads. The link to this year's can be found right (here) as well as at the end of her interview. We are honored to have her start off as the first featured member of the new year. The following is her interview.

    1. How long have you been on the site?
*checks under name* August of 2008.

    2. What made you interested in typology?
At first, a lot of my IRL friends were on this site, (I believe only 1 still posts occasionally now) so they roped me into joining. They left, I stayed. I found it to be a great short-hand. A bit stereotype-y at times, but honestly whenever I tell someone who knows "Oh yeah, he's an ISFP", they sort of get the gist of what I'm saying. I think society sort of lacked a blanket term for different personalities and motivations.. 'introverts vs extroverts' was barely becoming common vocab when I was growing up.

    3. Which typology system do you think is the best?
While I find the positions of the types to be very arbitrary, the enneagram is the best to me. Knowing someone's motivations at their core tells more about a person than MBTI does to me.

    4. What is your field of study?
I'm a nurse, and have held down several job type and career fields before this one and hope to continue onto more after.

    5. Where are you from?

    6. How do you feel about the site currently?
I've been here a long time. Almost 10 years now. People come and go. The discussions range from light hearted and stupid to serious and inspiring. For all the fluff, I've made some really cool friends on here and found some really thought provoking concepts. I guess what I'm saying is, while I find it in a lull currently, it is still a community of people that draws others in.

    7. What are your hobbies?
I'm into lots of hobbies! I snowboard (occasionally), play the violin (badly), I do HEMA (badly but better than the violin), study Japanese and French (hardly on the second, but working on it!), exercise, make things, help people when I can, run hashes, and travel. I'm sure there's more, but those are the basics.

    8. What are your dreams?
I want to travel the world, build a tiny house on a property, and become a decent HEMA instructor one day.

    9. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
A bat I think. I love bats to pieces.

    10. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
I've thought long and hard about this. I think I'd have healing powers... but since this is SUPER power, I'd be able to heal not just myself, but others. I'd turn it into a lot of mystical jumbo too, so I'd pretend it looks really cool when I did it.

    11. What's the most useless talent you have?
Not finishing projects? I'm very talented at that. I'd say drawing badly. I'm good enough that people THINK I am a good artist, and it's easy to trick untrained eyes, but I'm not good enough at drawing to actually do anything with my work. They say you keep practicing and you'll catch on, but I hit a major wall back in my high school days and... that was that.

    12. How were you as a child?
Fairly out-going, loud, but a goody goody. I didn't really cause any trouble for my parents, and I was very future oriented even as a kid. I planned my entire high school class cirriculum in 7th grade with my father, and stuck the plan out the whole way. I've always been very goal driven. I mowed lawns all summer in middle school to get a special comic book that I still have to this day.

    13. How do you pronounce caramel, been, aunt, and gif?
Care-a-mel, behn, rounded-a on aunt not ANT, and gif with a hard G. I know that's not right, but I don't care. Same with Pho, I know it's fuuuhhh but I still say Faux sometimes.

    14. Favorite and least favorite holiday?
By far Halloween is my favorite! My least favorite I think is Valentine's day. So boring. I like Christmas, but people IRL think I don't because I get annoyed seeing the holiday encroach so much onto other holidays.

    15. Share the sweetest memory you can think of.
Oh dear. I have many sweet memories. This one is bittersweet: I had a dog when I was a kid that was dying. Her kidneys were shutting down, there wasn't much we could do. She was a german shepard. We had another dog, a tiny Japanese chin, that was absolutely in love with her. He guarded his food fiercely because he was the smallest of all our dogs. When she stopped eating, we were giving all the animals food and split up a hot dog leftover from dinner last night amongst them. He saw her not eating hers, and he dropped his tiny piece of hot dog in front of her and scooted it close to her. They both didn't eat the pieces and they sat there until our big dumb dog scooped them up later. He stayed with her the whole time. He was always a little grumpier after she went. He reminds me of the old man from Up.

    16. What paper that you've written are you most proud of?
I don't think I ever took much pride in writing papers in school. I was really good at it, but I think I take pride in the ideas I put into things I write moreso than any essay I've ever worked on. Those have all been obligatory. I was very proud recently of my fan re-write of Penny Dreadful's ending on reddit though.

    17. List all of your pets out, if you've ever had any.
Growing up I had a ton. An iguana named Iggy, a tarantula for a short time named Ned, my dog I mentioned named Scarlet, a bird named Chirp, I grew up as a baby with a pomeranian named Tangi, and 2 cats named Dyna and Kumba. Those were just mine too! My siblings had others. We were a zoo haha. Now I travel so often I can't really keep pets. I miss having one.

    18. If you owned the site for a day, what would you do?
Put the new posts back on the quick links. Jk jk. I dunno, I'd probably put lots of decorations on it and turn it into an old angelfire website complete with a cartoon clicker and snow falling and comic sans font so that highlander can wake up and freak out. More seriously, I'd be able to upload gifs and videos easier since that's the current trend right now.

    19. Have any users you want to shout out?
Oh man, I'm not going to wall of text this, but shout out to all those members that left the forum and went on into the world, and a shout out to the new ones coming in and shaking things up.

    20. Here's a free soap box. What do you want to say to everyone as a whole?
If I see one more red pill post.... jk jk.

Howdy everyone! I'm old as dust in forum years now, so if you read posts from way-back-when-machine-time-eras and I've changed entirely since then don't hold it against me. A lot happens to a person in a single year moreless 10 years, and I hope to change just as much in another 10. Change is good. Also, please don't take some of the harsh things I say as so harsh. It's one of my military habits I'll never be able to kick anymore, and I'm a fairly harsh person in reality.. but please don't mistake harsh with lacking compassion.

Also, if you're looking for a really casual community of people trying to get in shape in their lives check out the 2018 Healthy Habits Challenge, I'll be hosting that one as well.

Is this were me ask a bunch of questions?

I'm going to ask a bunch of questions, were you into track and field at school? How long have you played violin and what sort of music are you into? Traditional or like blue grass and cagin or US ballads? Do you just play by yourself or do you join any sort of circle?

How long have you done HEMA and what is your most favourite and least favourite part of it? What melee weapons do you own or specialise in? Have you anything to say about binding and winding ?

What is one thing about yourself that others dont know? (I once answered this wrongly, I felt I answered it wrongly, at a team building event and so I try to subject others to the discomfort of the question) What positions of responsibility have you held in the last six months? (this is an awkward interview question and CV component because those are the last threads I created)

I apologise if I've been rude to you since you've been on the forum I dont remember if I told the last member of the month that, I probably should have, I dont always keep track of who I'm offending or if I'm offending people

I have a bat story for you. I found a bat in my room a few weeks ago on the floor. I put an acrylic cup over it, but some cardboard under the cup and brought it outside and let it fly away. Apparently it would have been better to keep it because I should have had it tested. It turns out if you have a bat in your bedroom, they recommend you get rabies shots because 6% of them have rabies and you could be bitten in your sleep but never know it. So here I am 11 shots and three weeks later finishing the treatment last weekend. The bill just came for the first emergency room visit. $20,000!!!! For some shots. I believe health insurance covers the full cost but still....
