  • This is a presentation from the recent Enneagram Global Summit where Katherine and David Fauvre present some of the results of their recent study. A few key findings:
    - The audience attracted to Enneagram is getting younger
    - 75% of the respondents were female with a preponderance of INFP and INFJ
    - The most common MBTI types for each of the Enneagram types are:
    1 - ISTJ
    2 - ENFJ
    3 - ENFJ
    4 - INFP
    5 - INTP
    6 - ISFJ
    7 - ENFP
    8 - ENTJ
    9 - ISFP
Note these are the results of the respondents and not the population at large. Also note that the tritype combinations changed the correlations significantly - such as some 6 tritypes were much more likely to be ENFPs.

Here are some notes on the talk that I took earlier (I don't think I posed them previously).

The study included 1000 people, who self-selected in response to calls for volunteers (including typology forums like ours).

Working with an actual statistician this time around: "Jim". (yay!)

Respondents:

Most common types:
INFP (barely edging out INFJ)
4w5 (barely edging out 5w4)
tri-type: 459
instinct: sx/sp

Assumption is that these are the people most likely to be interested in type.

75% female
24% male
1% transgender

Most common MBTI type for each enneagram type:

1 - ISTJ
2 - ENFJ
3 - ENFJ
4 - INFP (followed by INFJ, least likely INTJ, but INTJ 4s exist)
5 - INTP
6 - ISFJ (with tri-type ENFP)
7 - ENFP
8 - ENTJ
9 - ISFP

Random side notes:

  • 6w5 often ISFJ... sometimes ESFJ (or other FJ)
  • If a 5 has a 4 in the tritype and is Sx, more likely to be feeling.
  • 3-6-8 tri-type: ESTJ most common (and often other TJs)
  • Enneagram type ranked most popular for personal growth (followed by instincts and tritype).

They claimed the much of interesting analysis will come later, especially drawing on the free-form word choices from the questionnaire.
