[SP] craving intense excitement

I crave heightened reality. Out of this world dramatic events where my life is on the line like the stuff you see in movies. I get sooo bored with normal life it's not even funny. After awhile everything starts to look gray to me. I crave meaning and extreme excitement but I don't know how to go about getting it. Stuff like jumping out of a plane might be exciting but it doesn't mean anything to me so it would be an empty experience. When I do eventually get to have that intense peak experience with all the pressure I like it so much that I seriously start tearing up and psychotic laughter creeps out of me. Things that would scare other people and make them crack under the pressure I live for. I sort of feel like I'm meant to be something like han solo wandering around on my own spaceship causing trouble and rebelling against things or daryl dixon from the walking dead. So basically I'm meant to be in some sort of lawless post apocalyptic world that doesn't exist.

Can any other SPs relate?

Yes, some of it,

but not all of it. Like, I don't know what you mean by how it would be an empty experience to jump out of a plane. It would be an experience and that's it, all cool shit I'm pretty sure but why does it need a meaning beyond that? What kind of meaning did you mean there?

Also, just having experiences and nothing else is is not satisfying to me. I need challenges more, that's my way of experiencing life. It makes me feel alive more than any passive experience.

E.g. the jumping out of the plane thing sounds like cool shit as I said. But just a spice of life without any additional challenge that I can be focused on, striving to meet the challenge is really satisfying.

But yes, intensity and working under pressure is all good! Normal life does get boring and gray fast.

And that about the lawless apocalyptic world, well, my sp (instinct) goes a bit against it (I wanna keep my possessions) but otherwise it sounds cool

There needs to be a practical reason I'm jumping out of the plane. If it doesn't accomplish anything then what's the point. I don't know I guess this is more of an ISTP 7/8 thing and there are not even any ISTPs on this site.

Oh I don't need a practical reason for that one. The thrill itself is enough. It's just that thrill on its own is no more than a spice in life as I explained above.

So to you meaning means having a practical reason? Like, troubleshooting a problem? Anything else?

PS: No other ISTPs... Yeah unless I am actually one ;p Hahah

I don't know meaning could be a lot of things. Like strategic reasons, exploring reasons, dramatic reasons (4 fix). Basically it just needs to be like a movie. Nobody ever made a movie about just some dudes jumping out of a plane with no plot.

Gah I feel like this is the last thing I need to figure out for my personality. The last piece of the puzzle. If I can figure this out then I can be done with all this personality shit. valaki help meeee

The only time I see other ISTP 784s are in pop culture. I guess there is a real need to make life like a movie. It's such a strong feeling.

ronda rousey - fights other people in the ring to get her fix and appears in movies
dana white (ESTP) - plays ceo and gambles millions at the casino
james cameron - dives subs to the deepest part of the ocean to explore and actually makes movies
steve jobs - builds a revolutionary company and actually has a movie made after him

Maybe I just need to encourage the natural impulses of my personality and see where that takes me.

The plot could come up spontaneously ;)

Yes? What's the question?

Btw this was a bit vague to me, what is this last piece of puzzle you're talking about?

What's your goal with the whole personality shite?

Umm you didn't do that until now?

My brain is wired to do this to everything.

So I just want to know how everything in my personality works so I can use it properly and this is the last major thing I don't understand. When I try to move forward in life my personality usually throws up all these road blocks like don't do that! and when that happens I have to go figure out what the hell is wrong with me. It's like I already have a preprogrammed path in life and I'm feeling my way around blind trying to figure it out.

My goal was to use personality typing stuff to get ahead in life and to make sure I don't miss out on my purpose. This was me before trying to figure out my personality without personality typing.

My natural impulses are usually big bet life changing type of things and there are a lot of them. It's hard to know what stuff to listen to but the gut instinct thing has been helping me lately. Just frustrating that no plan I can ever come up with is big enough or exciting enough. Always needs more juice and outrageousness. The stuff I really want to do doesn't even exist in real life.

MBTI is not meant to be used like that. It's not going to tell you about everything in your personality. It's just one framework for a few simple things about cognitive workings and no more than that. Add enneagram, it becomes quite a bit better then, but there is still more psychology stuff that's not in the area of typology per se that's still relevant to the issues of personality.

"don't do that", you mean you decide to inhibit yourself? Or something else?

Maybe a better way to spend time is figuring out what "getting ahead" in life really means to you.

Cute kitten btw :p

Well I use it like that anyway. There isn't one thing in my personality that can't be explained with my full personality type (ISTP 7w8 8w7 4w3 sx/sp) and my personality is about as complicated as it gets. Nothing but contradictions in it.

The stuff you talk about in the rest of the post?
I don't know sure.

It's more like "I don't like that".

Lol fun

I don't know sure.

It would probably be useful if you could clarify at least to yourself what it is exactly

It's more like "I don't like that".

Picky I see.

I like normal fun things pretty much? Doesn't have to be too over the top. Plus it's not always about doing fun things, it's about making whatever you do fun

Yup, I can definitely relate. I see stuff like cage diving and skydiving on TV and think, "that looks like fun, I need to go do that". I could never work at an amusement park because I'd be so jealous of the people on the rides :harhar:

People call me crazy for it. I just appreciate getting out and doing stuff. There's a reason ESTPs are considered doers. ;)

I'm INFJ and the time I got caught in an undertow with a friend while swimming in the ocean in Hawaii - and was stuck very far out for about an hour - was one of my best experiences. (Nobody rescued us. We eventually got washed-up onto the shore.) My friend was praying and I was laughing. She was laughing a bit too since I was. (We thought we might drown.)

On second thought, perhaps it is about type because I would not purposely do that. hmmm.... So, maybe I don't relate.

On third thought, that was probably my ESTP shadow.
