I'm wondering if there is a small breakdown in whether or not SP's consider themselves artistic... despite being able to appreciate or create artistic works.

The study we're doing (the thing in the signature) shows that NF's may actually perceive themselves as artists more so than SP's with the results we have so far.

So then, two questions for you:

1. Do you create works of art?
2. Do you consider yourself an artist?

ditto

ive always had a knack for drawing, painting, and photography, but i think it would be an insult to people who make a living off of it to compare myself to them.

I never really liked the term 'artist' for some reason. I am a designer, photographer, painter, musician, but I wouldn't ever call myself an artist.

Maybe I need to add a third question...

1. Do you create works of art? Sometimes
2. Do you consider yourself an artist? No
3. Do you consider yourself 'artistic'? If artistic means "to do art" then sure, if it means "to do good or great art", then no.

1.) Do I create works of art? Sometimes. Sporadically. Not very good though.
2.) Do you consider yourself an artist? No. I've been called artistic and creative by others though.
3.) Do you consider yourself artistic? No.

1. Yes...furniture that is sculptural in nature and sometimes with polychromatic decoration. I also help others realize their artistic goals.

2. An Artisan, yes. An "Artist", ummm...hmmm....not really.

3. Sure, I am artistic.

2. No
3. No, although I am more artistic than many others I know. Most people don't even try.

1. Do you create works of art?- Yes. I don't do normal "art", however, I consider the things I make to be works of art, just functional art.
2. Do you consider yourself an artist?-Not really. Maybe craftsman.

What a lovely answer!

1. Do you create works of art? Yes. Music, Gadgets, Drawings...
2. Do you consider yourself an artist? Yes, but not as a means of earning income.
3. Do you consider yourself 'artistic'? Absolutely. I even make my business documentation proportional, pleasing to the eye, and ornate. It's a healthy outlet for my OCD!

This question has been asked in a another thread of a similar title. The problem is that, as Keirsey so painfully attempted to convey in his work, Artisan does not necessarily mean fine art. In fact the definition of the word is:
ar⋅ti⋅san   /ˈɑrtəzən/[ahr-tuh-zuhn]
–noun a person skilled in an applied art; a craftsperson.
Even before knowing about type, I always considered myself a practical artist. I have skills in mediating conflicts and technical skills in writing and interpreting policy. I used to dootle quite a bit, but never considered myself remotely artistically inclined any more than I am mechanically inclined as an ISTP.
