And I love me some INFPs, though I've never met an INFP dude. One of my best girlfriends is an INFP, and I've "clicked" with every INFP I've ever met.

I just take the high road (in the nicest, most unassuming way) and I figure "why not be friends... this is someone I LOVED" -- I couldn't carry a grudge with a bucket. Life's too short...

I carry grudges like woah, but I view it as-- this person obviously meant something to me for a reason, why would I not want to keep them in my life? Unless the breakup was a disaster.

Oooh, I had an ex that took the longest time to learn that. He wanted to remain friends after we broke up, but he kept picking fights when I'd go out on a date with a new guy. Finally, I stopped talking to him for a few months and then we started talking again and everything was fine. Too many people don't give it some time before trying to remain friends!

I'm friends with several exes. The ones I've managed to remain friends with are good friends too. If we were together for a long time we typically had about a 3-6 months break from speaking before we became friends. Worked every time!

I can't be friends with an ex either for the same reasons you have mentioned. Ideally it would be nice to remain friends but you know what they say about ideals.
