I dunno, I haven't read the book and haven't watched the show for a few years. He could well be a text-book ESTP. If not ESTP, then he'd have to be ENTP.
Well, he's always full of crazy ideas and unorthodox methods of solving problems, and he's restless and always craving action and changes of scene, adventure and challenges, and he can't submit to authority - not even the gods, and seeks to outwit them and everyone all the time, to obtain things that are supposedly forbidden or for the gods only.
He hangs out with the water spirit and the pig man who are total morons, but he doesn't judge them and just accepts them for the help they offer. And he's always oblivious to social customs and 'right' ways of doing things.
All of which, for me, points to ENTP.
In Chinese mythology he's kind of equivalent to Prometheus, I think.
