I can't stand horror movies.

This but only because most of them are now recycled crap cupcakes frosted with a gargantuan amount of screaming and/or shaky camera effects. I assume this is to distract audiences from the complete lack or originality and any type of acting ability.

My thoughts, exactly. They also really love bright flashing (sometimes an iris effect) and weird editing (flash something, remove frames so something skips/jumps, etc). The fact is that none of it is scary nor is it interesting.

I'd rather watch something with suspense that is reasonably unpredictable. Predictability of a story makes it distinctly less entertaining for me. It seems like all movie genres have run out of creative new stories in the last decade or so.
