Victoria. Yes.

IT'S THE LAND OF THE TORRIES! THEY'RE ALL BLOODY MONARCHISTS, I TELL YOU! MONARCHISTS!

ah Victoria.... damn.... well it's been raining around these parts as of late, well drizzle. The water isn't heavy enough to really fall but just lingers in the air.

Victoria?! I was born there! Aside from the folks driving really slow, Victoria is a very pleasant city that closely resembles England (I haven't gone to England, but you can just tell). If you have time, I would check out some of the beaches or forests there-I think you would like China Beach a lot, "It's most tranquil" as Bill/Ted would say. If your a fan of beer and/or beer pairings with your food, then check out Spinnaker's Brewpub; their fish and chips are bloody good.

 Now my ears hurt.
Sorry about that. But you can't deny that it is true!

Nice. I love that weather. How are the wild berries? I love wild berries.

I get clouds around my mountain down here in San Diego almost every day. It drizzled a bit this morning, so the clouds were gone by the time the sun came up, but still a nice cool/wet environment.

I can't see minding the speed of drivers, unless I rent a Charger in Seattle before I catch the ferry to Vancouver Island.

I'm sure it's great. I never ended up there last time I was up that way, but the rest of the area (except Vancouver) was nice. I love the forests and beaches, but it's hard to say if I'll have time. I do not drink beer, even though good/expensive Canuckistani beer smells almost drinkable.

I may have to go for some fish and chips, though. Prawn season should be going on right now and still going by the time I get there...

Thanks.

Pending my license arriving, it looks like I'll be heading to Seattle, then on to Victoria this Sunday. I'm wondering if anyone would like to go to a coffee shop and hang out for some portion of the 3 hours I'll be in Seattle, or meet somewhere in Victoria. I wish it was Vancouver - I'd see if Targo would take me kite flying some evening, but, alas, I will be across the water.

Anyone interested in saying "hi"?

You mean it's probably going to be rainier and foggier and cooler where I live? My trip is being ruined before I even leave for it...

:hi: Hi.

Sorry, not over there. Hope you have fun.
Thanks, but I will be surprised if I do. I'm going to be joining some crazy ex-military guy they're sending to Iraq over there, and knowing those guys, it's extremely likely he'll be into going to bars and drinking beer and stuff like that. I don't care for going and I do not drink beer. It doesn't look like I'll have a car, which means no other side excursions are possible. :(

Like I said, shaping up to be a bad trip. Most of it will be getting access to stuff, people showing me where things are that I need to do, telling them how much they suck without being to obvious about it, trying to suppress my laugh, trying to suppress my drive to kill, etc. All this without any free time to do much else. I'll be online a lot, I expect.

Have fun breathing our air and drinking our water. You know it's better where we are. YOU KNOW IT.

Not in Vancouver. Maybe in Victoria, but the air is pretty nice down here, too.

The water from the tap is probably better, but I'm sure it varies by location (worse in cities, better elsewhere), like in the US. Your chocolate is definitely better.

Just because it tends to be better the further north you go, doesn't mean that Canada is better for any other reason. Alaska is better than Canada, in my opinion.

The government is worse in Canada, that's absolutely certain...

Usually, I would agree with this comment. But not while Bush Jr. is president.
Unlike Canuckistan, the president does not define the government of the US. They're a figurehead with the ability to stop or allow laws to pass through, their "policies" must be run through a collection of representatives that may even be hostile to what they propose, and the only way to get them through is to discuss them and make compromises. The government of the US is a large organism comprised of many small people that do not have any absolute control over anything.

Our office of president was devised to serve as a checksum for lawmaking and as a single point of contact for the military. The respect and blame placed upon the office is more in line with a monarchy or a parliamentary system than with our system of government.

Awesome!! :D

I am so happy!

Now, if only there would be something to do or someone to do things with after my days at the office with our vendor.

Your husband is so much like my brother. :(

Anyone else up for it? They have Canadian Beer there, too! It's a mere 2.5-3 hour ferry ride from Seattle! ;)

I wish we could, but that's not a possibility seeing as I'm currently buried until an enormous pile of boxes.

Bummer.

This place area is one of those other garden spots in Canada (but I already knew that), as the weather is only a little wetter, and maybe 10-15 degrees cooler than where I live (it is hotter down in the areas below where my house is in San Diego, so I can say that the weather is slightly nicer here).

The main difference I notice (which I have before, and still do) is that this place has a surreal bright/colorful thing going on. There are also all these crazy Canadian flags on everything. Unlike the US, where they're pretty rare, there is a Canadian flag hanging on everything, printed on everything, flying over everything, printed on many people, sewn in people's underwear, tattooed on mentionables and unmentionables, etc, etc, etc. I'm drowning in a sea of red!

At least it's truth in labeling - white for the whitebread nature of the place and red for the socialist (commie) nature of the place. I can't disagree with truth in labeling.

Also, look out for those Crazy-Canadian Robertson screws. They're in freaking everything here! The structure portion of my room is assembled in every way I can see with them!

My internet connection here is really slow, maxing-out at like 100KB/s. *grumbles*

I'm too accustomed to my fast home internet connection.
