In terms of business/career, do you feel like you could accomplish anything you put your mind to? Or are there some things that make you go, "I'm not really sure I could accomplish that."

As an example, if you made it your mission/your goal to make 5 million dollars in the next 10 years, and you applied yourself fully to that goal (all systems go), are you pretty sure you could accomplish it? Or is it more of a "maybe"?

Maybe. There comes a point when goals become unrealistic. You have to have enough intelligence and luck to be able to achieve such an ambitious goal.

(OR you could be hot...and then be an escort. Those ladies bank.)

That said, I agree with the following quotes:

"You miss 100% of shots you don't take."
"Shoot for the moon, and you'll at least hit a star."

So if I play my cards right and plan for the best (and hope for the worst), I'll still be better off than I am today.

Its always a yes. If it was a "maybe" I wouldn't go down that road in the first place.

Well, what if you're thinking of being an entrepreneur? It's a whole world of "maybe".

If an idea or thought is spoken, must there be action behind it?

My sister is an ENTJ and sometimes I can hardly stand telling her my thoughts because she'll interrupt with a "when are you going to DO that?" (ha-my ESTJ cousin sounds like her echo at times). Or I have a good idea and she starts telling me who I need to call and what I ought to do to take it to the next step. Then she gets disgusted when I tell her that I was "just thinking about it."

Are thoughts useless without acting upon them?

Makes me think of the old Schoolhouse Rock "Verb! That's what happening!"

(a) your core group of 3 or 4 people who show up every week and who actively participate in your vision, but they still don't take it quite as seriously as you do.
(b) you have another 3 or 4 who show up sometimes, and other times they don't. Basically, they see it as a voluntary thing (an open invitation) and if they don't feel like coming, then they don't.
(c) you've got others who have been invited, but just flat-out are not interested.
I immediately identify all three groups as "everyone else." I have never partnered nor worked with anyone in a voluntary activity as determined or diligent. Usually I can work with the disparity; sometimes it infuriates me, especially if the majority of participants fall within the ambivalent, second category. Invariably, if I enter at the ground floor, I become the heart of the enterprise, and sometimes I really feel like I'm left holding the bag.

I reward the As with responsibility, showing them loyalty and giving them support for their hard work and trust in my vision.

Cs are cut loose immediately, albeit without prejudice since they figure too little into plans to inconvenience me.

Over the years I have learned to not come down hard on faltering Bs, especially since volunteer work has no imperative beyond friendly obligation and personal ethics -- you can't force someone to carry out what they were originally asked to do. Placing it in Enneagram terms, the 3s and 7s coolly disengage; the 5s and 9s retreat; the 1s, 2s, and 6s rationalize or apologize; the 4s and 8s may respond with shame or even recriminations. In any case, some measure of charity is best.

No responses to any of my questions yet... but I do not worry, you cannot keep your superdeluxe and nearly flawless plans for world domination secret forever. I know you want to explain them ;)

I don't know whether this has been covered (in which case you may be so kind as to point me to the post) but how the f*** can I be more ENTJ? I currently run a construction company (family business. Dad and siblings are too busy with their other careers so it fell upon me, naturally). My work comprises of coordinating project managers at our various construction sites and ensuring the projects are completed in time and on budget, doing the accounting (I veto-ed the suggestion of hiring an accountant), sourcing for new projects, dealing with clients... my friends have commented that I do at least two full-time jobs.

Now, quite a bit of my work requires me to yell at people. Yes, yell. That's the only language the project managers understand, apparently. In the 2 months I have been working here, I have tried everything in the book; diplomacy, compromise... everything. The only thing that works, when the project isn't completed on time or goes over budget - without a valid reason - is a display of anger. My extremely efficient ESFJ logistics manager does that very, very well, bless her. But she does have her own job to do so I can't permanently rely on her to do that.

Now, this has taken a toll on me, physically and emotionally. By the end of every altercation, I'm completely drained and, now, my ulcers are acting up big-time. I don't want to crash and burn but it looks as though I'm headed that way.

I LOVE my work (and never, ever want to go back to employment) so I can't quit. What I want to know, is how to do the cold, extremely-assertive ENTJ thing where I will not necessarily yell but I will tell you to do X and if you know what's good for you, you will do X.

Do you have minions that look like twinkies and speak gibberish? If not, what is the nature of your 'minions'?
Twinkie minions? Pffft. How crude. We have resources to forward the concept of global expansion with the end goal of a totalitarian regime. Of course this would all be for the good of mankind.

Guilty. Thoughts aren't useless but we lean towards providing solutions which can be frustrating to others.

You realize you're human, right? Why not work towards creating an org chart where if you're running the company, you have time to address strategic direction.

Your management team should be a buffer between yourself and rest of the staff. Also, set up some form of incentive and disciplinary program and apply consistently. Aggression in the form of yelling should never be considered acceptable within a professional environment.

Your body is emphatically stating that you're human. Refer to the above suggestions.

Kthxbai.

My father is a real estate developer, and he has been doing construction from bottom to top for 25 years.

In this case, I know first-hand that yelling is part of the job.

Since when do people have to ASK an ENTJ?

Maybe the thread title should read "Have an ENTJ tell you what to do"!

Quick questions:
1- Do you have a preference for extroverts or introverts?
2- How appealing are casual relationships to you?
3- Do you enjoy parties?
4- Do you drink regularly? Do you do any other type of drug?

Thanks :newwink:
