ok the issue is i keep reading about psychology or anything else say history or someones autobiography and experimenting on close friends. for example complimenting them outside of any need, or analyzing them/their friend loudly in front of them... anything at all. Why cant i stop this? i just want o get along have fun and stop experimenting analyzing which alienates people .:doh: is this common with ENTJs? If it is do we need to stay hidden till something beckons us out of our hiding..generally confused:D

Well I'm new here and this will be my first post on this forum, but I couldn't resist. I have a friend that enjoys running his own social experiments as well. He enjoyed it so much growing up that he decided to become a psyche major and that's basically all he does now. :)

It's curious that you experiment on your close friends though. Why not limit that to strangers or acquaintances? I can't speak for everyone, but it has been my experience that when you are in a close friendship with someone there is a certain level of trust that is expected. Getting "experimented" on might feel a little bit like getting toyed with or lied to if someone views you as a "close friend". You might have better luck including them in the social experiments on strangers as fellow investigators rather than using them as test subjects. Good luck. :)

That is interesting. You don't get that many socially inept extraverts. But I think you probably just have a hyperdeveloped T function.

i hope you're right on atleast one, either your observation or your analysis of a hyper developed T function. Come again? i hope we arent just throwing ideas all over the place now. some explanation is needed for your ideas here.

sweet! now only if that wasnt my blindspot, im not sure how its obvious at all. what of making it less obvious! speak openly you have a sharp mind.

I guess it's pretty simple. You do think you are superior, and you are Te-dominant, so you pretty much say what you think.

On the one hand you could use your Te to learn "rules" and not insult people. this would "lessen the effects" of your superiority complex.

On the other hand, I am Ti-dominant, but we share one thing in common - we're both guided primarily by what we think. So if you're like me, the only way you will really stop saying things which make you appear arrogant, is when you are logically convinced that you are not superior.

However it's beyond my reach to do that because I basically know nothing about your reasons for considering yourself superior (except for the sport and movies thing). ;)

Whether the reasons for considering oneself superior are valid or not, once they start causing harm its better to tone it down.

Logically if i'm convinced im superior i can convince myself that others are not inferior, that should balance things out. unfortunately i regularly meet people who arent accomplished and they get ground by what i say, however if i dont say it they come and sit on my head.

i think the one thing which im going horribly wrong with is making lab rats out of my friends (judging them needlessly) thats one thing i will stop. Secondly, i'll develop more empathy with their interests perhaps.

Oh the hell you don't!

LOL.

IOW - being an extravert and being socially comfortable or socially skilled are NOT the same thing. As some *cough cough* young ENTP *cough cough* might show you. Then again, if you WANT to be a bully or WANT to shock people or WANT to make people stay away from you, I guess maybe it's not 'inept'. But, it's not uncommon for extraverts to be surprised by reactions from people or a bit clueless, particularly if they are Ne or Te dom, IMHO.

I'm glad you solved it. It sounds like you're really ramping up on your Fe.

I do it. I certainly do it with relational psychology tests. They never work on anyone in my family, but I just don’t want to give up trying some new psychology thing. I’m an INTJ, so it may be related to us being NJ’s.
