What do you do for fun outside the house?

What activities have brought you most joy and excitement in life?

Have you ever been able to sustain that sense of fun for a relatively long period? How?

The ENTP sense of a boredom is well documented and I relate a lot to ENTP in certain ways, this being one of them.

Can a mod change the title of this thread to "ENTPs and fun"?

And can an ENTP actually contribute and share his/her experience please?

I play sports, get with people and discover things for excitement.

Connecting things and discovering stuff excites me. That, to me, signifies growth and I am all about personal development.

I remember as a little kid I used to get excited studying cuz I would figure something out based on the stuff I had just read and the next page would have my exact thoughts in print form.

You can have sustained fun by changing the way you look at things. Look at stuff from a different perspective. If you worked out to get thin and you are getting bored of that now, think about how working out affects individual muscles. Invent some of your own exercises. Change the exercises that you currently do. Mix it up

I made this thread because I feel unlike most ENFPs in that I can be very logical and because I feel like some ENTPs, specifically the loner kind of ENTP who seems cynical about life.

I'm trying to find the patterns to get out of the rut that is (what seems to be) eternal boredom, realizing my life has been very different from most ENFPs out there, with no dating, or lots of friends and excitement over things.

I'm reaaaaaally rarely excited over anything in life.

I would appreciate answers in the more concrete way possible with some details. Tap into that Si and give me what has worked for you and made you happy in detail with as few broad statements as possible (stuff like...be active!).

What can I say, this shadow mode is really persistent. Like an annoying ISTJ. Like Darth Vader.

Sure, but I kinda like having a thread simply titled "ENTPs", made me feel special :wubbie:

What do you do for fun outside the house?

Sports, gigs, iunno, anything that involves either my passions or something I've never done before.

What activities have brought you most joy and excitement in life?

Music festivals, jumping out of planes... *shrug* anything that involves new experiences that I've not had before makes me jump out of my skin with excitement.

Have you ever been able to sustain that sense of fun for a relatively long period? How?

Nah, not really, it can last as long as I'm in an unfamiliar environment.

The longest period would probably have been my Army drivers course, think it was about 6 weeks, only knew one person before I got there, was in a group of 40 soldiers on an Army base of thousands, got to learn new things every day, go different places every week, have a heap of quality socialisation at the boozer all nights but closed camp Monday, weekend trips to Melbourne to go to different events with smaller groups 'n such. At some stage you always have to go home though, right.

The ENTP sense of a boredom is well documented and I relate a lot to ENTP in certain ways, this being one of them.

It is? What is that? I don't experience boredom much, unless I'm trapped at some kind of formal gathering where one uninteresting person is talking and I can't escape, even then just having other people around adds entertainment, I always have a way to entertain myself.

I like to create things, learn things, discover things, explore things, not play sports, daydream, spew ideas to my friends...

I like hiking, kayaking & rafting, smoking a cigar on my patio while blasting some jazz, playing team sports, climbing trees, building igloos, catching wild animals and setting them free, cycling longass routes, walking through a large city observing and commenting to friends. All of the above energizes me, although the cigar and jazz can behave as negating factors for one another. For the most part, jazz picks up the mood and increases playfulness.

What do you do for fun outside the house?

this sounds like a present tense question, which makes answering the big question hard as there isn't nearly as many things to do here as there were in other places i've lived.

so, lately, since i noticed a couple years ago that the amount of time i spent outside getting some direct sunlight into my skin had a tremendous effect on my moods (meaning it elevated them), i've just been taking books, my laptop, etc. outside and lying on a lounge chair for a few hours.

winter can make me feel like shit. i get bored easily, and like you said, in a rut, when it's cold outside. i prefer sunlight and lots of it. thank god for the internet, tv, and books, or i'd go insane.

when there was more to do where i lived, i enjoyed:

going to antique stores or any little stores that could contain hidden treasures. even the salvation army thrift stores.

finding new libraries and exploring them

walking or driving someplace i'd never been before just to see what's there and maybe talk with the people in the convenience stores

going to games or to the park and 'people-watching'

finding out of the way rivers and large creeks with rocks all over the shore and looking for indian treasures, special rocks/crystals, fossils, etc.

randomly taking trips anywhere, anywhere. just jump in the car and go. i've been to NYC twice and tons of other places doing this. all i need is the vehicle, gas money, and a friend to crash with, and i'm gone.

finding little book stores. i've found a lot of first editions and old comics that i treasure to this day.

i'm sure there's more, but i have to wrap this up for now.

activities have brought you most joy and excitement in life?

see above. those are some 'concrete examples' that you asked for.

you ever been able to sustain that sense of fun for a relatively long period? How?

if you mean, have i been able to have fun period for a relatively long period of time, then yes. i have, but it's not a usual thing. i just tend to explore my surroundings either outside or inside until i find myself doing three or more things at once. it's not something i try to do.

also, i have the habit of seeing everything as something that can be tweaked. if something interests me on tv, the thought of buying it if i can make it irks me, so i make it myself but better.

it's hard not to look around and see how something can be better.

ENTP sense of a boredom is well documented and I relate a lot to ENTP in certain ways, this being one of them.

i'm somewhat sad when i'm bored. i can't even imagine just sitting in a blank room with nothing to see/hear/play with. i'd go nuts. oh, i could lie there for a bit and imagine, but then i'd start trying to invent a way to get the fuck out and as soon as possible.

in the house, i start going through all of the books i haven't gotten to yet and begin learning/doing something new (internet is great for this).

for instance, building an indoor waterfall, creating medicine with herbs/oil/alcohol/etc, how to fix/tweak drywall, how to fix electronics, etc. etc. etc.

Wow I just need to move to a cooler place don't I? I wouldn't be able to do half those things in this boring little portuguese city I live in.

Most has been said. I'm going rowing in a couple of minutes, and on other occasions when I'm outside I just go for a walk, listen to some music if there's any on anywhere, go to the pub, talk to random strangers who seem to be doing interesting things etc.

Shhhhhh-be very quiet so the entps dont hear..... I am going to whisper this given you placed the thread in their section....

(I kinda know how you feel)

Yeah their brains all exploded anyways but you are an istj who used to be an enfp, I am an enfp, so I think this sorta may be okay....but I could be wrong...so you can be offended and I will apologize in advance.

When I was a kid I hid behind an INFJ shadow-but this isnt like an INFJ-it is more just a blank Fe wall to keep people out.

I just never felt anything, happy, sad, excitement, enthusiasm-just empty and dull. I felt sort of stable, but very isolated and removed from other people. It was like I was an enfp-but it was all stuck inside my head isolated from everyone. I did not care at all what other thought, I did not care what they did. I did not need to interact with them.

I didnt even feel lonely oddly enough-just a content isolation. If anything mild annoyance now and then.
