I am 23 and just starting college, going part-time at a local community college. For the time being I am just trying to get my required stuff out of the way and I am majoring in Associate of Arts/Sciences, mainly because I have no clue what I want to major in at this point (I do not plan to graduate with this major). I was wondering what other ENTJs studied in school and what you all do professionally. Any advice would be appreciated and I would appreciate anyone chiming in, regardless of type.

I'm getting a Masters in a combination of actuarial science and mathematical finance. Work as a translator on the side to finance my expenditures. I have many hobbies (cycling, dancing, painting, mountain climbing, learning languages) and that's what I love the most about my life, truth to be told I don't really give a shit about careers and money :D

Well, I don't care much for career and money, either.
I care about writing and knowledge. Having fun. Love. Friends.
I want enough money to be comfortable and possibly live somewhere warmer, that's all.

I don't think that's uncommon for ENTJs. I just wanna be independent enough, (financially, socially) - to be able to pursue my passions/interests. However, one of them is starting my own business in PR. But I have a lot of passions/interests. I hold a bachelors degree in Communication science, so I can pretty much niche into any field that catches my eyes. At the moment, I'm looking for ways to invade Vancouver. I probably won't go back to school to get my masters, which would have been in General Management, but in desperate times I may have to.

I do think it's pretty fun to make money, though, which is why I'm doing a lot of day-trading. But careers, no, not just for the sake of it.

Seconded. I'd rather live in a nice place and have good company around me without any needless stress than have an excessive amount of money and be constantly stressed. Making money is fun though...

Oh, it is. At least if it's not completely awful.

Let me phrase it better: I give a shit about it insofar as it gives me enough money to pursue everything else I want to pursue in life. Basically, I like to have enough money in my bank account, so that I don't worry about it. If I were to get a lot of money, I'd like it to be from something nice, like an innovative way to do something, writing an outstanding book, winning a sporting competition, etc...

My goal is similar to Peter Gibbons in Office Space-- my dream is to do absolutely nothing. Give me friendly conversations with friends over beer, and I'm a happy camper.

In fairness though, I do have intellectual goals, in that I want to read a bunch of philosophy and literature before I die, but that may or may not answer your question, since it isn't career related.

My background-- I went to music school as an orchestral trombonist for a while; got sick of living in a practice room and taking orders from idiots. Then I worked a few crappy jobs, before going back to school and getting a degree in physics. Then I became an office peon. Right now I'm living the dream on funemployment, though I am laying the groundwork for a transition into software design before 2010 is over.

Moral of the story: don't follow your dreams-- prostitute yourself for money instead. Then trade cash for stuff. :D

I knew I wanted to be in business, but just didn't know what type of business... I met a guy who was working in online porn 4 years ago. The whole industry fascinated me - especially because I thought that only established companies like Playboy and Hustler could make money in the online adult industry.

I saw an opportunity in an extremely new global marketplace (internet) and realized that nearly anyone with a camera could do it. After some more poking around and asking alot of questions, I learned that crazy amounts of money was being earned by a few individuals. I knew I could make a killing. The first year, I lost 10k and my business went under. I was only making 50k/year at my day job, so that was ALOT! I went at it again...

[BRAG]Sooo... here I am. It took me 3 years of slaving away while maintaining a full time job, and 1 year of working in it full time to earn a 7 figure gross income in 2009. If you frequent youpr0n, then you've seen my work.[/BRAG]

:pornstar: <--- Who is this guy??

Don't know at this point, lol. the things I've began to realize I want haven't shown any signs of happening yet, but at the same time I seem to be right where I'm supposed to be in the direction that I can move forward. People are unaware of change then they wonder why they get sidetracked.

I develop my career. When I'm not doing that, I'm hunting for information. I've been told I'm an information connoisseur. I like to collect antiques (especially Victorian era), engage in debates (most people are initially unsuspecting), read encyclopedias, read the news, read articles, et cetera. Also, I enjoy tennis, golf and competitive videogames.

Perhaps unexpectedly, I write more than I read. I have a fictional universe I've worked on since I was a child. I often draw sketches and write about it. It's my way of expressing my creativity and relaxing.

If you care not for either careers or monetary gain, you should look at your three highest interests and pick the field in most demand.

I want enough money to live a comfortable existence, so that when I go abroad on holiday, I can go wherever and do whatever I want, and money should never be a concern. I want to be able to not have to think about how much something costs; if I want something either for myself or for a present for someone else, I'll buy it, if something needs replacing, I'll replace it. I want to be at the point where I'm not thinking "great, I'm in more debt" or "well, that's another £100 to fork out for a replacement".

My material needs are few. But for the few things I have I like quality. I don't need top of the range, expensive, overpriced clothes, but I do like £80 Levis jeans, for example, as opposed to Primark's £6. I like jars of pasta sauce which are nice and thick as opposed to my own cheap chopped tomatoes-based sauces. I like to be able to buy good quality nice fresh fruit like bananas, grapes and plums (which are so fucking expensive! And go out of date so easily so you can't buy in bulk) as opposed to really cheap apples and oranges. And I want a stylish room if possible, with the freedom to change my room around and make it look how I want to make it look. I want a good sound system, not a pair of cheap, crappy speakers. I want my home functioning well and looking - thus feeling - good.

Then there's love.

As long as I have a goal towards which I feel like I'm making progress, I'm content.
