SJs and NFs can have their own brands of pretentiousness, but intellectual pretentiousness is something NTs do more than the other types, that's not a secret. SPs are the least pretentious.

I'd also say that xNTJs are more pretentious than xNTPs, on average. Pretense is all about judgment, after all.

I think it's important to draw a distinction here. There's actual pretentiousness, which is people deliberately or habitually pretending to be something they're not, for the sake of image and appearances.

And in agreement with this definition of pretentiousness, I don't simply think having a preference for intuitive thinking makes one or even indicates one as being pretentious. They may or might not be.

A better indicator of pretentiousness would be how much a person cares about external validation, as well as their willingness to shape-shift their character/persona or flat out lie to others, and perhaps even themselves, momentarily, attempting to come off as "better than they actually are" as a means to gain approval and admiration from their audience. *barf*

Pretentious people lack a strong sense of self, are immensely insecure, lack integrity, and care FAR TOO MUCH ABOUT THEIR *IMAGE*.



You might be able to find some correlation that some types happen to be more prone to being pretentious than others, but I dunno, I think asswipes come in all types.

In my experience, most pretentious people, (not all), that I've come across in my life have been insecure/unhealthy TJs or FJs.

The only outlet where intuitives can glorify themselves is forums like this. Do they get enough glory from that? Hardly. So why be pretentious.

It's not like a big section of the world gives a damn about MBTI, at all.
