-3 poles,
-a staplegun,
-2 collors of paint,
-5 yards of rope.

Tell them to build anything they like, except:
a) they must agree on it
b) it must be done in half an hour
c) it must be innovative
d) it must be usefull

then take a chair and watch them going. It should be good fun!
