Yes, I have been called a hippie, but only by people who know me. Still, I guess that strangers too might see me as a hippie, I wear certain type of clothes that might seem hippie and I have a bum-magnet so... no wonder. No problem with being called a hippie, it is one of the best stereotypes around, if you ask me.

I'm open minded in most regards, but not to the extent of believing in "free love" or taking hallucinogens, if that's what you consider a hippie. I don't identify as a hippie, but I admit to hugging trees and enjoying it.

Around here no one associates hippies and free love.. Come on, there is no such thing.

How often people see you as hippie?

And do you like it or not?

I ask because usual stereotype for NFs is hippie.

Not that often (I have a fair amount of responsibilities that I slavishly fulfil... this gives the appearance of dutifulness), but I'm pretty hippie inside!

I like it when people think I'm hippie.. then their expectations drop and I can confound them with some sharp observations.

I might say that there is more NT hippies in real life...at least when I think about all the "hippie" types I've met. The NF's are the ones that stand out the most though that's for sure.

I don't mind when people think I'm a hippie. I can't think of a cooler social movement than the hippies in the 60's. Most of the negative stereotype is undeserved....but of course any subversive group is going to be negatively stereotyped by those powerful in society.

Lets see...

I consider myself a Socialist. (But I claim Independent, because I don't want to be viewed as a liberal hippie douche that doesn't know what they're talking about. :) I do my homework before forming a bias on a political issue.)

I've smoked helluva lot of pot, and still do on the rare occasion. Hallucinogens are quite fetching, as well.

One of my favorite books is Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert A. Heinlein.

I don't eat much meat. (But not because of the cute, fuzzy animals, I'm just not fond of the taste.)

I less than three flowers, trees, and nature. I have, in fact, hugged a tree.

There is ALWAYS a reason for group hugs.

I love The Velvet Underground, Clutch, and Pink Floyd.

"Peace" is usually my parting saying.

I'm a pagan.

BUT, I digress...

I bathe. Actually, I hate being not-clean. Dirty hair is a tool of the devil.

I'm realistic. About reality. In general. Or something?

I have the magical ability to realize when I need to get my head out of the clouds.

I'm a science geek.

I love Russian and dystopian literature. (Or you can read some Zamyatin and get the best of both genres!)

I watch UFC.

And I love industrial and death metal, as well as my trip music.

I'm in college, and can correctly use five syllable words.

I'd say that I'm a well balanced hippie.

I guess I should also admit to being a vegetarian and smoking pot.

I've never been called a hippie but I was called a bleeding heart liberal by my dad when we had a rat problem near the fence behind our house. I told him we should catch them and set them free but he wanted to kill, kill, kill. Lame!

well, i'm an enfp and people assume i'm a complete stoner who has casual sex all the time. which i'm not.

besides, enfp come off like they're tripping out on something a lot of times. when i get wacky the common assumption is that i'm tripping balls.

You know the ex-hippies that were becoming Christians during the "Jesus Movement"? I could see myself being like one of those, had I existed at the time. :)

No one calls me a hippie, really, except a couple friends sorta teasingly. Have been called a free spirit before on a few occasions, and I liked the term, as others posting in this thread have reported.

I can't remember when or if I've ever been called a hippie before. Must be because I really do hate them.

Dude, I am a hippie.

Hahahaha.

I call myself a hippie tongue-in-cheek. Anything 'liberal' or 'bohemian' or 'anti-status quo' can be called 'hippie'. If you are interested in transpersonal psychology  or spiritual growth  (like Edahn!) or veganism  (like me!) or marijuana or world travel etc. etc. etc. you can be called hippie. It means lots of things.
