[h=2]Mood Disorder-Does it tear you apart, or is it a path to wholeness..?[/h]
Unipolar major depression, the fucking terrible condition characterized by extended episodes of low mood, apathetic responses to your environment, diminished energy, inability to ascertain feelings, poor sleep patterns, feelings of worthlessness, suicidal ideation, loss of the capacity to experience pleasure, etc...Does depression become an all encompassing burden to bear, or is it the doorway to creative insight and life fulfilling meaning?

Definition sounds fairly accurate to me.
Yep, that is the nature of that beast...

Does depression become an all encompassing burden to bear, or is it the doorway to creative insight and life fulfilling meaning?

That depends on how you choose to cope with it.

If you have a biochemical imbalance that is causing this then it is of paramount importance to consider seeking professional help and trying to find a medication that normalizes your predisposition as such.

If you don't have a biochemical imbalance then your depression as such is most likely either caused by:

(1) Real events, real people in your PAST
-OR-
(2) Real events, real people in your PRESENT

...and counseling would be a great thing to consider.

From what I have read, learned and heard from professionals - by and large those who approach treating major depression with a combination of medication AND counseling have the best results in managing it.

Finally, I don't know if it is the "doorway to creative insight" - but it is correlated with creativity, as is ADHD.

Good luck!
