What is your take on people as a whole?

I am fully believe in human nature. I think that we are like all other animals in that we have instinct that many people try to deny through religion and other folklore. It is said that ENFP have a positive belief in human nature and as a whole I do. I believe that we are great animals and are capable of anything but if that means the good nature of people I disagree. I dont think people have bad intentions for others at the forefront of their being but I think that people are by nature narcissistic and are simply out for themselves. Not to say that people dont do nice things but in the end everything comes back to self. Also please do not take this for a bashing of people because I am not saying this is a good or bad thing just that it is a thing. And besides it seems that the people that actually do follow their narcissistic desires are those most heavily praised in our society anyway

People, people, people...can be amazing and do beautiful things...but can also destroy all that in a heartbeat. I do agree with the OP that people don't have bad intentions most of the time, but yes, placing themselves first is primary. I don't see that as something negative, though. The way I see it is that yeah, do your thing, look out for yourself because if you don't help yourself first and foremost, nobody will, there are no free meals or easy ways out and that's the way it should be. But, the catch is, you have to consider how your actions have an effect on everybody else around you. Everything is connected, deliberately harming others or letting them get into trouble when you could do something to help and just watching idly by does not do. If you don't help others who are in trouble after trying to do everything they could have to help themselves, things just fall apart. The problem is that I don't think everybody sees it that way, and that kind of consideration might be lacking sometimes and that causes trouble. I mostly do have a positive attitude towards people, a belief that no matter how bad they can turn things, they can also make amends for mostly everything...and also have huge regrets later on, but that's life.

I think anyone that labels people as essentially good or bad needs to revise what good and bad mean. To me people are....people. They are the SOURCE of both good and bad, so they are both.

I don't know how to answer "do you believe in humans?". I don't know what that belief supposedly entails? That we are moving forward? That every person has good in them?

For me it's all relative.

My feeling is that 1/4 go out of their way to be saints, 1/4 go out of their way to screw people over, and 1/2 are too busy surviving to be either (they are decent people who only screw people over when their family's survival is at stake). So overall, my opinion of people is positive.

people are people; life is what you make of it. i'd rather see it on positive terms than negative.

I dont think people have bad intentions for others at the forefront of their being but I think that people are by nature narcissistic and are simply out for themselves.

yep. it's biological anyway. we wouldn't be able to exist as individual organisms if we weren't individually driven and somewhat narcissistic. the flipside of that is that everyone has something individual to offer the world.

I think we are all more alike in general then we are different. So think of that the next time you are pondering type differences. We all have the same basic needs and drives. To feel safe and secure, to feel loved, to love, to feel good about ourselves, to seek pleasure and avoid pain, to feel useful, etc. Most of us enjoy the same basic pleasures: good tasting food, music, sex, etc. although depending on our culture, the style of it probably differs somewhat. An INTP human and an ESFJ human are more alike than an INTP human and an INTP dog (well in terms of percent of shared DNA anyway).

I don't know if you would call it a "positive" view of humanity, but you could call it an obsession.

I absolutely adore meeting new people, probing them, and finding out who they are. I almost think when I first meet people I can see that little special part of their no one else can, almost like I can see part of God in them. I automatically see the best in people when I first meet them.
