I don't know if any gay folks posted here (I read most posts days ago and don't recall if anyone did) but I definitely have this kind of relationship with my bff Sean (ESFP, I think) who is straight. Of course, being gay, I can't help but find him attractive, and we've been friends since our early teens, so at times I wondered if I was in love with him (or at least in lust) because teen hormones and all that yadda yadda. But, despite how long it took me to realize it, I have come to the happy conclusion that my love for him (and his for me) is beyond that of relationships. We are more than just friends; we're true comrades (he is a commie, and while I don't consider myself, being Cuban I know a lot about socialism and/or communism and I'm sympathetic to the cause, though that's neither here nor there), and to me that means so much more than friendship or romantic love or having sex. He loves me like he loves no other man, not even his brother, and I feel the same way about him. Our love simply transcends the boundaries of time, space and even sexuality; we are truly a match made in heaven, just not a sexual or romantic one (although we both agree that were I a woman or were he gay, we'd probably be all over each other, lol). I don't know about ESFP and ENFP compatibility, but at least astrologically (as far as Chinese astrology is concerned) we're in total sync; he's Rat and I'm Dragon, and apparently they're perfect together. :wubbie:

But yeah...

Hi Devil Flamingo!

Sometimes the oddest matches make for the deepest bonds. It is so cool that you and your friend have found that connection that is even deeper than sexuality. Sometimes sexuality is a part of those connections, sometimes it isn't, but I am convinced that it doesn't have to be for the relationship to deep and fulfilling. Thanks for sharing your story!

I have that connection with both my ESFP and ENTJ best friends. We love each other like we're connecting soul to soul. It completely transcends everything on earth. I find that tremendously comforting.

Great topic. As an NT, in our own section of the forum, these kinds of things don't get discussed much, which is unfortunate, but not really all that surprising, I guess. I think David definitely represents NFJ more than NFP thinking. His eagerness to bring justice isn't something I see in NFPs much, unless there's some serious wrongdoing that has happened to them. And I think where in the Bible it says that David was a man after God's own heart, it means just that. God is not bloodthirsty in the way David seems to be, but people's actions affect Him very deeply. Love and hatred seem to kind of go hand-in-hand, and people with passionate love, like David, are also capable of great anger and hatred.

Also, agree with those who have mentioned the need for deep, platonic relationships without the fear of appearing homosexual. Everything in american society is viewed through the lens of sex, which is very unfortunate and totally unhealthy. We need change in that area, very much.

Guy love, that's all it is
Guy love, he's mine, I'm his,
There's nothing gay about it in our eyes.
You ask me 'bout this thing we share,
And he tenderly replies,
It's guy love between two guys.
