There are a lot of qualities described in this thread which I would describe as negative but accurate. However, there are only so many that I would describe as being dark.

!

1. Ne really goes places it shouldn't go sometimes.

yeahhh. i feel like an ENxP probably came up with rule 34. lord knows that's a bit dark.

i think my darkest behavior would be the Fi/Te attack. it's pretty easy to hurt someone... just aim straight for internal weaknesses and let Ne play its connecting game to jump from painful truth to painful exaggeration-that's-sort-of-truthy-but-overly-dramatic

it's the dark side of what makes NFPs healers, i guess. the same thing that can give people quiet, accepting comfort can also rip up in loud, violent shreds.

--

also - to whoever said don't know how to punish - yes. i'm a big advocate of behavior modification but i'm rather bad at enforcing it. i understand the principles very well but see so many subtleties and nuances that it's hard to make judgment calls on situations. just one more reason i really need my spouse to be a J dom  (i wouldn't really call this "dark", though, just kind of a fail)

-VERY manipulative.
-Mean, sometimes even abusive, to those that are close to him/her. Knows how to hurt them and push their buttons.
-Self-absorbed, bratty, whiney.
-Depressed, often basking in misery.
-Going out into world with a "fuck everything" type of attitude.
-Explosive anger, almost to the point of being dangerous.
-Throwing fits and tantrums.
-Rebellious and risk-taking attitude, love to cause trouble.
-Lazy and irresponsible.
-Indulgence in drugs, alcohol, comfort food, etc.

I was very close to an ENFP, and that's what I saw and experienced at the darkest/unhealthiest times.

nah.. that's just our twisted sense of humor...you may have one as well but i assure you ours is our own. :newwink:

Exactly thank you. Apparently, only INTJs know sarcasm and no other types possibly could. ;)

An ENFP gone bad probably has been manipulated by some more clever ENTP or ENTJ.. :p

ENFP gone bad:

-reckless daredevil attitude
-destructive of others and destructive of self
-sees nothing wrong with cheating/hurting loved ones
-makes excuses for said wrongs and come off as sociopathic
-charming and manipulative
-uses charms, sexuality and charisma to reach one's goals
-self deluded
-can possibly make excuses for theft and murder if we're talking extreme
-incredibly self indulgent and can be prone to alcoholism and drugs
-twisted and skewed humor along with the mind
-vindictive and vengeful
-cuts people off if they no longer find them useful
-gets bored quickly (goes along with the cheating) although healthy ENFPs get bored quickly too
-thinks they don't need love or anyone
-reactive
-romanticizes their problems

Interesting! I've wondered before if I might be an ENFP instead of an INFP as I'm becoming more extroverted, but this makes me think I'm not one as my dark side is far different.

So basically they turn into a normal ENTP ?

Real ENTPs are surprisingly grounded and loyal.

The problem is that people who romanticize NTs or ENTPs tend to have this perception of them being heartless or whatever. They are unsure with their emotions more than NFs, but that also leads them to choose their partner more carefully for the long run.

- they are the creators of hype, reality distortion and misguided self-confidence in others
I specialised in piercing through these. Possibly partially because of my father and being failed by games industry so many times. But other intuitives are also guilty of it and not only intuitives. (ENTJs for example)

- they are lazy as fuck
Can't really relate. I can't stand idleness. I usually have some functions working hard at any given moment. For example I work hard with my Fi and Si a lot XD .

- they would find an excuse for Hitler and let him go(they can't punish people)
I would skin him alive for being a racist ableist social Darwinist, though.

Anyone can have a dark side, but it does interest me that there seems to be several NFP actors/actresses who were so affected by dark roles that it seemed to bleed into their actual identity, sometimes with negative consequences. I think the type is particularly skilled at transforming into character to depths not imaginable by other types.

Enfps are nightmarish in the workplace. They are selfish and narcissistic in their ideas and bully and berate others who threaten those ideas. They manipulate, abuse and tear others down just to protect their own egos. They advertise themselves as visionary and manipulate communication to those in authority while stomping horrifically upon anyone in there vicinity. And you can't help them improve... they are so caught in their own grotesque fight for Importance that any feedback is recieved as an attack. Avoid them at all costs and if you must interact just say whatever it takes to appease them, them do whatever you need to do after the fact.

Hmmm dark or unhealthy because that is two different things. Even in a healthy state everyone can have a dark side, there is no light without the dark the point is to integrate and allow space for both healthy. That's why split personalities can occur as well when people can't reconcile parts of themselves with their identity. In my twenties I suffered from mild disassociation disorder and I think it was because I wasn't accepting myself good bad and ugly.
so dark side I think is that we can manipulate peoples emotional state in my opinion. The energy in the room , cause fluctuations in people's mood to our benefit or just to be cruel. Make people feel like the center of the world and discard them..

Sounds more like ENTJs mistyped as ENFPs.
