I'm posting this here for an ENFP perspective, since I'm an ENTP.
I feel these two types work very well together as friends. I seem to balance the feeling of my ENFP friends with a bit of rationality, along with offering a plotting mind for our crazy schemes, and the ENFPs seem to instill me with the zesty enthusiasm that they ooze. The issue I see is that we can both be manic, and end up going way overboard in our endeavors(not that it's not fun while it lasts!). I love the whimsy of ENFP's, and I often get behind it with all my enthusiasm.
Another dynamic I've noticed is our mutual love of interesting experiences/stories, which ENTP/ENFP people all seem to be loaded with.
ENFP's also keep in check my tendency to be overly annoyed by irrationality, and keep things fun and light, which ends up being more fun for all involved. They make me less uptight.
Feel free to share thoughts, experiences, whatever crosses your mind.

When Targo (ENFP) and Oberon (ENTP) would get together here on the forum, things just got... out of control...

(... it's always a little dizzying when you put together two types that have no sense whatsoever of boundaries. :) )

Please elaborate.
BTW, mutual self-destruction isn't a pitfall to me, just another adventure, rife with stories to tell and lessons to learn.

Have to say that though I enjoy ENTPs, I have bad experiences with some irl, which makes me cautious of them.

No self-destructionis a definite plus in my book too ;) It may be just in my case but I find that often I do things to piss the ENTP off! She tends to presume attack where there is none... and is extremely sensitive... not all her fault I am a little too slap dash probably in my relationships to really suit her... It then leads to lots of problems and we are often unable to speak to eachother... she lives close by and we have same part-time job so this can make things tricky... just in our case though!

I will say that even being a type I respect/like doesn't make you immune from me using you to my own ends in the social circle. I have to highly respect you as an individual, or I will use you without regret or conscience.
Not maliciously, but the same way I'd use any tool.
Not sure if that's the kind of "bad experience" you meant, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Sounds like an ENTP lacking either self-worth or confidence. I was the same way the first 3 years of highschool.

*smiles* That's not just ENTPs that do that though, so no, it wasn't what I had in mind. The thing I find most annoying is that they somehow seem to find it necessary to make you earn their respect, and if you don't play along, they'll hound you and annoy the living daylights out of you instead of just leaving you the F** alone. I have to get pissed for them to back off..just for a little while. And if you really get fed up and the gloves come off, they're offended. Could also be coz they're family though...

I find though that generally ENTP's with a weaker T, are a delight. Absolutely adore them and they make great partners in crime. One of the downside is that you get so absorbed by each other and the ideas you're generating, that you just lose track of time...completely. Utter bliss though ;)

Aw man! I have known many an ENTP over the years and have loved them all. I find ENTPs really get results out of me when it comes to work. ENTPs provide just the right motivation to get me to turn my ideas into projects. My ENTP friend says that he has had some great working relationships with ENFPs as well and that we can provide the "spiritual catalyst" that makes ENTPs so passionate about what they're doing.

I love ENTPs. I always wished I was one and make up for it by befriending every ENTP I can find.

I hear that, loud and clear.
I've worked so hard developing my Fe, ever since I became acutely aware of how dominant my natural tendency toward Ti was. It caused problems for me, because I'd often steamroll people's feelings, totally oblivious to the reasons it offended them, because there was no LOGICAL reason to be offended. I've found myself much more welcome at larger social gatherings since I've learned to understand the feelers point of view, though I still disagree with it often enough.

My ex was ENTP. Talk about attention-whore. He was friggin crazy.. in a good way. Extremely popular. Extremely charismatic. Extremely witty.

Anyone who challenged him in a debate would easily get ripped apart! Well, except for his ENTP father. They'd get into their lawyer debates like crazy. He was dang intelligent, humorous. Girls really loved him.

My personal opinions about them as friends? I could see him and I more as friends than lovers. It just didn't work well in that department for me, although, he was really physically attractive. I think I really disliked him after our break-up, but he's whatevers to me now.

Talk about casino buddy! We both loved to randomly take off and go gambling with each other. I was in the background pumping him up, while he did all the work! It was a FUN relationship.. A bit dramatic at times. Head butting. BUT, since we shared the same values, it almost felt like we were on a mission whenever we'd talk about politics & social issues. Both he & I are creative, so we used to do fun things like go to art stores a lot, bookstores, random joints.. I think the emotional connection for me, wasn't something I found in him (which is more important in some ways- he just couldn't emotionally comfort me as much as my ENFP ex did). If I were to ever hire someone, I'd hire him. He was clever, conceptually! Both he and I, shared he same taste in visual aesthetics when it came to graphics art. He really can be successful if he wanted to. I just think he wasn't as motivated enough because he loved partying a lot. Brilliant guy though, I must say.. Btw- his typology results were confirmed.

I dated an ENFP. ENTP / ENFP: exhausting fun that would ultimately make you a bit nauseous. Kinda like eating too much cotton candy and never sleeping. I like the heartier more filling types like INFJ females.

I love ENFPs but tend to find them a bit needy. They are always looking for validation from me, and I am always wondering why my opinion matters to them so much. But beyond that, I love them. The conversations flow and we always agree on the end result of everything, but take different paths to get there. They always play damage control for me when I bulldoze a china shop. And I always bitchslap them around when they start getting hysterical for no good reason. Perfect symbiotic relationship.

Hmm...my boyfriend of 3 years is an ENTP and we have loads of fun. His T isn't as strong which I think helps a lot. Before we started dating we were great friends and had no problems joking around with each other and were basically at ease with each other. It's awesome.
