I guess I'd always sort of assumed the MBTI encompassed how we best retain data/concepts and master new skills, in a very broad sense. However, recently I've been searching for a more in-depth analysis of how I as an individual learn most comfortably (& therefore, most efficiently... I'd hope!), and I stumbled upon various quizzes for Learning Styles. The most informative inventories have been on college websites, IMO.

...to the point of this thread though..
as helpful as it's been to gain further insight into all those little cogs in my own head, I'm curious to see what conclusions can be drawn from additonal Learning Style Inventory scores from all the varying personality types on this forum.

Mmm.. patterns.

So. Here's a link to one of the [free] inventories I went through.

So what, exactly does this mean? Also, I've always thought of myself being more verbal than visual--especially in learning. I think I might be more easily stimulated by an image, but I think tend to zone out and get lost in the graphic, think about it in ways non-conductive to learning... dunno though, I'll have to think about it

The first two spectrums definitely adhere to my INFP-ness. The third doesn't seem to have much correlation to MBTI unless it's at some deeper level of theory. In the fourth spectrum, it seems like global is similar to intuitive...

The global learning issue is one I hadn't thought of, but my ability to "zone out" and read about a topic for 12 hours at a time on the Internet now makes sense. Because I need to know everything about a subject to then be able to see the "big picture," to be able to then make sense of the small bits & pieces I had been reading up to that point... This is definitely why math was, to me, insane and irrational. By doing 30 math problems each day that had nothing to do with the previous day's topic or each other, math had no "big picture" for me. It didn't for anyone else either, except that the sequentials were able to plot through the homework problems without really needing to "understand" them...

the test was repetitive like all annoying personality tests with predictable results. Always have been horrible at sequential learning. I remember I'd always get bad grades in math because I couldn't follow what was going on and they always wanted me to show my work but I didn't know how! :(

------------

I had a hard time choosing with some of the visual vs. verbal questions. I'm both - it depends on the situation. The first seems a very I/E divide, the second and last clearly S/N, but the visual/verbal seems unrelated to type.

I didn`t know most people are visual learners, I always thought it`s a left-right brain dominance thing (like those who use the right side more see inside their heads in pictures, left sided in words). Or are the two things not connected?
