Would Buzzfeed or dozen other gossip sites be so keen to mock Amanda Bynes if she her health was genuinely brought into question? Probably not, unless she dies prematurely.
From Marm's article. Off topic, but this is what makes me very uncomfortable around all of the mourning and calls for love that surround suicides on social media.

You (impersonal "you") wish you could've been there to show them (usually her) how beautiful they were? Um. If you'd been there while they lived, I doubt you'd have called them beautiful. Few people see beauty when they see depression. Try crazy, tiresome, weird, overdramatic, damaged. Maybe even hilarious.

I can't imagine why anybody (of "the masses") gives a damn.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to read anything about this, or even most of the posts in this thread. I will say this: who the fuck is "Kid Cudi"?

    (don't answer that, it's rhetorical)

Thanks for providing the link but I'm not going to click on it. Clicking on that link is not worth my time.

yes, i saw that part but didn't understand why you still felt the need to make a post asking who a person is when you're on a computer with internet access. and now a second post saying that clicking the link isn't worth your time, yet taking the time to make a post showing how superior you are and how valuable your time is.

How do you know it's not the same thing? Not to contribute to SFP oppression, of course. But mental illness can be a product of shitty childhoods as much as it can failed neurotransmitters or getting the wrong genes. Some illnesses are genetic and "nature". Others are "nurture". A parallel with physical illnesses would be obesity-related health issues vs. having genes that make you susceptible to testicular cancer (not you personally, of course, I mean the grammatically lazy you.)

Also, not all child stars end up acting liking this, either. We never hear gossip about Natalie Portman's twitter feeds. Of course, whatever her type is, she's not an SFP (ISTJ, most likely).

Some people have lower impulse control than others. It's silly to hold celebrities (well, in the entertainment industry anyway) to higher standards than non-famous people and call them insane when they get drunk, make unrequited confessions of love, and cuss people out. You wouldn't call a friend who did those things in college after a night of heavy drinking insane.

Which is not to say that celebrities can't have serious problems related to mental health. But Lindsay Lohan/Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes don't seem to be in the same category to me at all.
