What do you like about Spinoza exactly? I know a little about him but I don't really have a comment on your post.

Yeah, exactly lol. I haven't read his work either, actually. But I know.

I like that he was such a swell guy that nobody had anything to complain about him for, except for his bizarre views. People would have certainly loved to dig up dirt on him and find something to use against him, being the ultimate heretic of heretics, but nobody really could.

It very well may be, but you should ask yourself why you prefer Heidegger to Spinoza.

Because I am mystified by him and I don't find Spinoza all that interesting.

As if I didn't know that already. By the way, I was not aware you were 'trying' anything. Now I'm confused.

You say you want to open this forum up so people discuss ideas, but routinely bash people who seem too "egoistic" about it. Nobody will want to discuss ideas in such a climate. If you truly want people to discuss ideas, Spinoza is a good person to emulate. Heidegger seems like a terrible person to emulate.

That's all I have left to say to you.

Even though Spinoza can be readily account for as an INFJ, function-wise Heidegger may already capture @Evee with his Fi-Ne-Si-Te, sharing all functions in common.

Lol, that was my lame personality type explanation.

Now my other is that Spinoza has made this theory that all attributes to one substance (resembles Ni), he's from an older time period when Descartes a rationalist was having debates with Locke, an empiricist. He was more focused on what was metaphysics. So they were on a different issue really than what Heidegger is more into Phenomenology, exploring the science of consciousness being a direct student of Husserl. Yeah Heidegger was a Nazi, but it doesn't seem like even to us modern readers, that being a Nazi was part of his core philosophy. Ne types are also more primarily attached to the philosophy being separate from the self, where as Ni uses the philosopher and his own subjective views as part of the philosophy.

I would also believe Evee has a stronger desire to learn more about phenomenology than metaphysics, being that he is a feeling type more interested in experience than with objectivity.

But that's just my two cents.

    I am dripping in Finesse.
