Exclamation I hate it when people (nines maybe) converse like this: "Right. Right, right. Right."

I hate conversations that go like this:

Articulate Speaker: Blah blah dsklfj raerhk asdfhsdk sefhkjkjh blah, blah, blah.

    Annoying Interlocutor: Right. Right.

Articulate Speaker: Hhsdkafhagj hkjdsgfkjhg sdjfgg reiuth. Blah blah blah.

    Annoying Interlocutor: Right.

    Articulate Speaker: Aasdfbkh iyuhjk, b--

    Annoying Interlocutor: (murmuring) Right, right.

    Articulate Speaker: --lah! Blah, blah.

    Annoying Interlocutor: Right! And--

Articulate Speaker: Blah, blah, blah blah blah.

    Annoying Interlocutor: (murmuring again) Right.

WHY does everything have to be right? And WHY do you have to say it? What makes you think your constant affirmation is adding to the conversation? It drives me crazy.

Do people think this is a form of "active listening"? Just write a book, and call it "Right." And the entire contents of the book can be: "Right. Right. Right..."

    For shame.

    Right.

When I was young, I admired clever people.
Now that I am old, I admire kind people.

Mrs. Weir: The world is such a different place then the one I grew up in. Everything just seems so much meaner these days.
Lindsay: Mom, kids didn’t throw eggs when you were in school?
Mrs. Weir: I don’t know. I guess so. I just know I never did.

That's funny, I was going to say how much I hate it when people go 'blah blah blah blah blah' and ramble on about nonsense.

I do this. The ‘right, right, right’ thing sometimes.

I try to catch myself the second I start doing it- like snap myself back to attention so I can actually listen... but Im not always the best at it.

My dad and I are the same way... we daze out a lot. Hes worse than I am usually though. Like compared to him I look alert.

But yes. I do this sometimes. I dont like that I do but... it happens

I'm a nine and I'm definitely guilty of doing this LOL

I alternate between responses, though, if I catch myself saying "right" too often. "Yep." "Mhm." "Wow." Occasionally I'll repeat back something the other person said.

I just suck at conversations, I can't help it.

I'm an Aquarian (the misanthropic humanitarians, or so I'm told), 9, and introvert. If I seem uninterested or say "right" a lot, it's probably because the person speaking to me has nothing interesting to say and I can't wait to not be talking to anyone.

    That's not a conversation, that's a monologue.
