    Walking alone by myself.
'One of (Lucas) Cranach's masterpieces, discussed by (Joseph) Koerner, is in it's self-referentiality the perfect expression of left-hemisphere emptiness and a precursor of post-modernism. There is no longer anything to point to beyond, nothing Other, so it points pointlessly to itself.' - Iain McGilChrist

-When I'm walking alone through the city I love, especially along the river or on the bridges.
-When I'm in the flow of a deep + sparky conversation with either one of my closest friends, or someone I'm attracted to
-When I'm at a gig and the band plays my favourite song
-When I'm reading a book I've loved since childhood and I access the feelings I had then, overlaid with the person I am now
-When I'm with my family and we're laughing about an in-joke we've had for twenty years
-When I read the scriptures and find something that deeply reflects my experience and thus comforts me
-When I'm in the flow of travel, discovering a place which excites and moves me

I'm not even sure I have a singular 'self' I can feel like.
But I suppose my head's most clear when I'm alone walking at night.
Dancing is very freeing but there I am concerned about how I look and how everyone else looks and the quality of the music, ETC.
There's no real point that I am me in some basic sense, just a different section of a complex amalgamate.

    Am I missing something?

I am most myself when I'm
    - alone walking through a forest
    - listening to really intense, dramatic music
    - alone with someone I care about around whom I can finally let down my guard and let my warm, mushy NFP self out

Edit: wow, my response sounds exactly like everyone else's. guess I'm not as special of a snowflake as I'd like to be

    - Listening to and playing music I love.
    - Sitting outside listening to nature and other ambient sounds.
    - Letting my imagination run loose like a child.
    - Being surrounded by beauty.
    - When my mind and heart are in free reign of exploration of various thoughts and feelings, either alone or talking with dear friends/ loved ones.

    • Walking alone through the wild
    • Stargazing
    • Getting all caught up in a new idea
    • Playing the piano by ear
    • Writing something intuitively
    • Just spending time with someone I implicitly trust

The funny part is that these times are the times when I LEAST am thinking about "who I am," I'm just "being."

Hmm... I'm 'most myself' when doing various things alone, or contemplating on my own, and it's a given that I'm the least self-conscious when I'm alone.

But I'll list out a few things I do with people where I'm least self-conscious and least apt to self-regulate:

When out in nature, hiking with friends, doing photography
Traveling with friends - travel experience outside the country w/ friends, especially
Playing board games (un-self-conscious banter, joking/playing, etc)

...not attempting to answer this thread with the sense of identity found in the mind, which is only a self-told story of thoughts the real me believes in, created by reflection from interacting with the outside world, while trying to answer the similar question to the thread, "Who am I", and failing, out of lacking understanding and guidance, the western culture has no place for, unless packaged in yet another promise of feel good product to feed the dreamstate.

well. All the time. Whatever I do at the end of the day it's me. I could argue that point and identity etc. but it's just like say the legal system must assume free will to function otherwise its never anybody's fault and we base our laws at least supposedly on an idea of Justice-Law-Regulation that is not only functional but also moral.

Anyways. If I had to answer i'd say : When I keep moving. But it's my choice to keep moving so I am most myself when I decide to keep moving and do act upon it and make my environment fit my Ego's will and flow.

When I am with my sister. Hm. Maybe lots of times. When I am learning something. I would say something like really strenuous exercise, but that is almost more like transcending myself.
