I'm Welsh, but you weren't to know (after all the London confusion too, heh).

Regarding the original question, I prefer to go by avatar, since that's what the member "looks like" in my mind. But as Fortunoodle's Scooby-Doo metaphor so aptly conveyed it, I'm not often given that option.

I propose a rule for this forum: A member may only change their avatar if they morph it gradually over a period of at least a week.

Don't just assume that every erection is in your honor.

(I can't believe I just said that. I'm so ashamed. Not deleting, or anything, but really, really ashamed.)

I don't have avatars switched on right now, just as an experiment. I think that sometimes how much I like or dislike what is in a person's avatar affects the way I see them as a person. After all, it is a representation that they picked for themselves, yes?

Normally, I would glance at the avatar and vaguely associate it with whatever the user name is. Most of the time i'm more interested in what someone has to say than who it actually is...unless it was a particularly good or bad or interesting post.

I use both name and avatar... but avatar pic is easier to see than text. Except for the fact that some people keep on changing theirs makes it confusing.

Really the person posting doesn't matter... content makes more of a difference.
