Academia promotes the freedom of ideology exchanges. But in the current political climate, there are too many bad faith actors spinning propaganda, attempting to create an alt-reality. This is the culture war that Steve Bannon started by manipulating young, white socially inept gamers and the red pill autists and narcissists, making them believe that they're hard done by and that they should be ruling the world. They were first duped by Milo Yiannopolous with the help of Russian bots and trolls (Gamergate), and then chuted through breitbart, zerohedge fund (this has been proven to be a russian shill site), alex jones, et al, where they were radicalized.

Within ideological equality, bad ideas do not survive. Demonizing things actually makes certain things more appealing. That is essentially what counter culture is the product of. But if you treat all ideologies as boring equals, then everyone will see them as such. Then any study/observance of them becomes more objective. Same goes with saying something is superior.
