Default Member of the Month: May 2018

EJCC is our May 2018 featured member! EJCC is a resident ESTJ who has been supporting the forum for a long time with excellent insights and grounded opinions. Previously a member of the modstaff, she has been tremendous at uplifting the forum's value and we greatly appreciate her contributions both in and out of the modbox. We are honored to have her here. The following is her interview:

    1. How long have you been on the site?

10 years. 2008. I was 17 when I joined. (Phew, I should process that eventually.)

    2. What made you interested in typology?
I liked taking quizzes and the MBTI seemed like a fun one. It ended up being stunningly accurate. I needed to know more.

    3. Which typology system do you think is the best?
The more I study the MBTI and the Enneagram, the more I prefer the Enneagram. Enneagram practitioners know what their system is good at and rarely try to overreach into bullshit territory the way MBTI practitioners do.

    4. What is your field of study?
I’m a nonprofit fundraiser - I send out the fundraising emails and direct mail, I make the donate ads, I juggle a million different small ways my social justice nonprofit brings in money to speak truth to power.

    5. Where are you from?
A small city in the Rockies. One of my favorite places in the world.

    6. How do you feel about the site currently?
I love the people here and am slowly recovering from years of forum burnout. There’s a lot that I’ll never forgive the forum for, but it’s also been a place of both kindness and realness in times when I most needed that.

    7. What are your hobbies?
I have this problem where I’m great at relaxing with friends and have a hard time slowing down and being unproductive when I’m alone. Socially, I sing in a choir, I go to happy hours and concerts and other events with my close friends, and I work out with several accountability buddies: running (especially trails and obstacle course races), barre classes, and bouldering. When I actually force myself to chill alone, I like reading and watching TV and attempting to teach myself the electric guitar. I used to knit and sew and am trying to get back into that.

    8. What are your dreams and aspirations?
Settling down with a partner somewhere we both fit in, surrounded by both nature and things to do (I’m thinking the Pacific Northwest?), closer to my family in the Rockies. Also I want to play guitar and sing in a rock band.

    9. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
    Probably an owl.

    10. If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Superhuman strength. (This is a longstanding childhood goal, and honestly part of the reason i’ve dedicated myself so much to working out. Lol.)

    11. What's your favorite food/meal?

Noodles, in general. Spaghetti and meatballs, turkey tetrazzini, lo mein, ramen, pho...

    12. How were you as a child?

Independent, happy, enthusiastic, and utterly unafraid to speak my mind.

    13. How do you pronounce caramel, been, aunt, and gif?

CARE-uh-mul. Bin. Ant. G as in Give.

    14. Favorite and least favorite holiday?

Fave is Christmas, least fave is Easter. I don’t mind the commercialization of Christmas because we all know the true meaning of Christmas. The true meaning of Easter is too complicated to sell in chocolate bunny form. The whole commercialized Easter holiday feels like irrelevant bullshit to me.

    15. Share the sweetest memory you can think of.

I once lived out the final scene of “It’s a Wonderful Life”. My heart grew three sizes - people can be so kind.

    16. How do you judge a person?

Often. Just kidding (maybe). I care a lot about the values of respect and fairness, so those are the big ones.

    17. List all of your pets out, if you've ever had any.

No current pets. Former pets: Bono and Aikens (fish), Carla and Bob (fish), Pippi and Pogo (cats).

    18. If you owned the site for a day, what would you do?

Ban a lot of people. (Oh god, am I Thanos?)

    19. Have any users you want to shout out?

Nah. Y’all know who you are.

    20. Here's a free soap box. What do you want to say to everyone as a whole?

Have a little grace for yourself and each other. And don’t tolerate bullshit, ever.

Can confirm that s/he was spared and the crocodiles didn’t go to bed hungry. (Probably got raw beef or some other tasty carnivore treat.)
