Have you ever had a dream?

That felt so real, you swear on your life that it actually happened?

Every Breath taken

Every Word spoken

punch or kick thrown

or worse...

Every gunshot fired felt...

Real?

That right before you meet your final moments in that dream--

You snap awake.

Your heart racing

sweating

breathing rapidly

As if you'd just escaped the grasp of death itself.

Fear pours through you.

We tell ourselves:

That this was just a dream.

That nothing was going to happen...

To calm down and get back to sleep!

The next dream will be better.

But...

What if...

It's not?

That thought lingers...

What if you hadnt woken up right before the bullet hit?

Or that kick landed?

Or the water overtook you and you drowned?

What if you'd stayed asleep?

Would you die?

Would your body believe in fact that you were shot:
and shut itself down
according to how it believes it should?

It's scary to think about.

Never certain whether the land of dreams is any safer than the land of reality...

It's all in your head.
