I like a good debate but tend to back off when other people get too emotionally invested in the debate. Plus some people tend to think I’m being a jerk for, I dunno, stating hard facts or questioning their logic.

I am strongly questioning my past conviction that I must be an introvert.

In fact, I remember being quite a chatty, outgoing person, the type unafraid to just randomly speak to interesting strangers at parties with what must have seemed to them like non-sequiturs.

One tends to tone that down and learn to be more reserved once they realize their social skills don't always match their high enthusiasm.

I mean... as a withdrawn type who is also self-preservation, it really only makes sense that you'd also be an extrovert. Otherwise, half of us (or more) probably wouldn't even know who you are.

Ne can be utilized completely internally and as such is in fact the most "introverted" extroverted function.

Indeed. People become sounding boards. In that sense, they can be useful and a lot of fun to interact with.
