I'm an introvert, but I really, really like to talk alot.
With Skype, if you didn't know, you can talk to your friends with voice like a phone or with webcam. But because there's actually nobody near me, I don't get as drained interacting with my friends through Skype while playing Minecraft, Terraria, CS GO, etc. Skype is a beautiful thing and I wouldn't have had as much fun in my life without it. Introverts, what do you think about Skype? Actually I'd like to hear an extrovert's opinion about this as well.

Depends on whether the introvert has social anxiety. If the introvert has extremely bad social anxiety, the last thing they want to do is going onto Skype.

Video chatting or talking on the phone with people makes me a lot more uncomfortable than talking to them in person..

I'm better in person. That way I can properly absorb, mirror, and project affect. Also, I have a problem understanding what people say if I can't read their lips as well, so phones for me are a disaster.

I love Skype. I'm not on video all that often, but audio is great for me. I'm also not a fan of landlines or mobile phones, but I do like my computer headphones and mic.

I agree with you OP, Skype is really great.

Being able to talk to someone without the stresses of socialising has given me a chance to meet people and create some form of a social life. The problem with Skype friendships is that you usually don't ever meet the people you talk to, so you're restricted in what you can do together. Ideally for me things just begin online, they don't end there. Something that has always disappointed me has been the reluctance of Skype "friends" to actually meet. In some cases they won't even have video conversations.

Me, too.

In person is the most natural way for me to communicate, yet somehow Skype is my absolute least favorite.

If I'm to interact with someone, I prefer face-to-face or text/messaging. I've been learning how to have serious conversations in person; in the past, I've just resorted to texting, but I know that's no way to live life. And face-to-face is by far the most rewarding.

...Calling is a different story. I dislike it very much. I even tell my best friend to give me notice before calling, because I need to psych myself up mentally. When he calls, I let him take the lead and speak until I'm comfortable enough in the phone call that I can begin saying my own stuff. Calling people other than my closest friends sounds terrible. As for video calling, that's just something I'll never see myself doing. I struggle with eye contact in person--I tend to look away when I speak--so in video calling, it's just constant.

I'm pretty introverted, but I can't say that Skype does anything for me. I do like games, but I can't play one while holding a conversation without coming off as an uninterested douche. Might as well talk face to face; I might talk them into playing a game with me!

On the flip side, talking to most people without at least seeing their facial expressions is more draining than normal, so I'm not a fan of phone or voice chat conversations.

I hate talking and therefore hate Skype. A friend I haven't talked to in years wanted me to Skype recently, and I can't even pretend I want to because I hate it so much.

I used to tolerate social talking but it's gotten to a point where most of the time all it does is drain me for literally nothing in return - or even worse, aggravation in return.

Skype is difficult for me, not least because I can see my own picture on the screen as well as the person I'm talking to. And THEY are in control of what I see, so it's not like I get a decent amount of body language or environment information. The phone is preferable, and email is way, way better, I think. Though it does depend on the reason behind the conversation and for a good reason I'd Skype, of course.

DOWN WITH SKYPE LAG

Skype/cellphone/cordless lag will ruin even the greatest conversation between two extraverts.

I created a Skype account a few months ago, I was nervous as hell at first but now I look forward to connecting with another on a more personal level.
Also: audio/video can be downloaded to a folder & reviewed later.

I don't have a problem with Skype or video chat in general. I do it often for work and if I compare it to having to go in for a meeting in person - yeah, I'll take the vid conference every time. I used it when I was finishing my last degree too. I use Skype to talk to my ENFJ when he is away for work, it's very natural for us and we've been doing it in some form for so long, I don't even think about it.
