It's science that's confused.
So what you're saying is that Bill O'Reilly says people can't explain the tides because we haven't figured out the source of gravity to the same extent that we've figured out electromagnetism and the strong and weak nuclear forces? I seriously doubt that. Bill O'Reilly doesn't know jack about gravity or the tides. Neil deGrasse Tyson does. You should just stop. Your hate is making you look foolish. I'm embarrassed for you.

Hatred. Embarrassment. So many emotions for such a dry subject. In fact, nobody knows what gravity is, only what it does. Not even Neil deGrasse Tyson, whose new Cosmos series rivals that of his predecessor in terms of pure pap intended to popularize science rather than help people understand it.

More deflection. Neil deGrasse Tyson knows what causes the tides. Bill O'Reilly's statement was not based on the idea that we don't know everything about gravity, he didn't even know that gravity caused the tides. You're trying to turn this into something it never was.

Now, if you want to say we don't know what causes gravity, therefore we cannot explain the tides, that's an entirely different argument from the one Bill O'Reilly was making and Neil deGrasse Tyson was responding to. But if you're going to go that direction, you can do that for everything, not just gravity. So you might as well be saying we can't explain anything because our knowledge is incomplete. And that's just silly.

The purpose of Cosmos was to popularize science. Broadcast television is an entertainment medium, not an educational medium.

This is perhaps as accurate as anything Tyson says in Cosmos:
